I am excited to share a DIY all-natural homemade sunscreen bar recipe with you all today. It’s the perfect way to still play outside and keep the sunburn at bay during this summer season. Why not make some or your family. Here’s my how to make all natural homemade sunscreen bars recipe.
All-natural Homemade Sunscreen Bars Recipe
Supplies:
- 1/4 cup Shea Butter
- 1/4 cup beeswax or soy wax pellets
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon vitamin e oil
- 1 tablespoon sweet almond oil
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
- 3 tablespoons non-nano zinc oxide
- Mold
Instructions:
Step 1: In a medium-size bowl, add shea butter and wax pellets. Place in microwave and melt at 330-second intervals until completely melted.
Step 2-4: Add coconut oil, vitamin E, and sweet almond oil.
Step 5: Add lavender essential oil
Step 6: Add zinc oxide
Step 7: Mix everything together well. You can use a wooden spoon, whisk or a hand mixer. (**Please note the zinc oxide is quite a bugger to clean, so use hot soapy water when you clean everything)
Step 8: Add to mold and allow to harden in fridge or freezer at least two hours. I let mine harden overnight.
Store in an airtight container or Ziploc bag in the fridge until ready to use.
This is a wonderful science project to do with the kids, obviously wish supervision, too. It’s just an all-around great activity to enjoy and the end result is that you can let the kids play outside without fear of sunburn using all-natural ingredients. Enjoy the summer season without worrying about how you’ll stay sane outdoors when you use this DIY homemade sunscreen bar.
