My Year in Books: 17 Thrillers, So Many Twists, and One Big Reading Goal

Looking back on my reading year, I’m honestly pretty happy with how it turned out. I finished 17 books, and while that may not sound huge to some, for me it felt like a win – because most of them were thrillers. And if you know me at all, you know I love a book that keeps me guessing.

This was a year of late nights, “just one more chapter” promises I didn’t keep, and plenty of moments where I thought I had the story figured out… only to be completely wrong.

Below are some of my standout reads — the ones that stuck with me because of their twists, tension, and unforgettable reveals.

⭐ Mini Reviews of My Favorite Reads

We Used to Live Here

This one crawled under my skin in the best way. The atmosphere is unsettling, the tension builds slowly, and there’s a constant sense that something is off. It’s one of those books that makes you uneasy without fully understanding why — until everything clicks. Definitely a standout for me.

That’s Not My Name

This story pulled me in right away with its mystery and sense of identity confusion. I loved how the truth unraveled in layers, and just when I thought I understood what was happening, the story shifted. The twists felt earned, not gimmicky, which I always appreciate.

All the Missing Girls

Told in a unique way that keeps you on your toes, this book was a gripping ride from start to finish. The structure alone made it memorable, but the emotional weight and constant suspense kept me fully invested. It’s the kind of thriller that makes you rethink everything you’ve already read.

The Teacher

Dark, uncomfortable, and impossible to put down. This book dives into secrets and blurred lines, and it doesn’t shy away from the messiness of its characters. I couldn’t stop reading because I had to know how far it would go — and it definitely went there.

The Coworker

This one was pure tension. The office setting made it feel relatable, which somehow made the danger feel closer. It’s fast-paced, twisty, and perfect if you like thrillers that keep escalating until the very end.

Never Lie

This book completely played with my expectations. Just when I thought I knew who to trust, everything flipped. The pacing was tight, the setting was claustrophobic, and the twists truly surprised me — always a win in my book.

Keep It in the Family

This was one of those reads where the title alone hints that nothing good is coming. Dark family secrets, buried truths, and a creeping sense of dread made this one hard to put down. It’s not light, but it’s incredibly gripping.

The Last One at the Wedding

Weddings are supposed to be joyful… this one absolutely wasn’t. I loved how the story unfolded around relationships, secrets, and the pressure cooker of a big event. The twists came at just the right moments and kept me guessing until the end.

Beautiful Ugly

This book surprised me in ways I didn’t expect. It explores complicated relationships and hidden truths, blending emotional depth with suspense. It’s the kind of thriller that lingers after you finish, making you think back on small details you may have missed.

The House Across the Lake

This had strong “can’t-look-away” vibes. The setting played a huge role in the story, and I loved the slow burn that eventually exploded into something much bigger. Definitely one of those books where the reveal changes how you see everything before it.

The Night She Disappeared

A haunting and emotional mystery that stayed with me long after I finished. The story balances suspense with heart, and I found myself completely invested in uncovering the truth. It’s a quieter thriller in some ways, but no less powerful. This was probably my most favorite book I read this year.

I also read three of Jeneva Rose’s books. The Perfect Marriage, The Perfect Divorce, and You shouldn’t Have Come Here. I enjoyed them all. Great twists. I can’t wait to see what books next year holds for me.

📖 Reading Stats & Looking Ahead

  • Books read: 17
  • Favorite genre: Thrillers (no surprise there)
  • Best part: Twists I did not see coming
  • This year’s goal: 25 books

I know I’ll need to up my reading game to hit that number — more intentional reading time, fewer distractions, and probably a few more late nights with my Kindle.

Right now, I’m currently reading The Last to Vanish, and it’s already giving me those eerie, edge-of-your-seat vibes I love. I’m hoping it becomes one of those books I can’t stop thinking about once I’m done.

Here’s to another year of great books, shocking twists, and stories that completely pull me in. If you have any thriller recommendations, I’m always adding to my never-ending TBR pile. 📚✨If you want to find my books I have them all linked on my what I’m reading page.
