Just like pregnancy, unmedicated birth is a different experience for every woman. Planning to have an unmedicated birth plan can sound overwhelming to some moms while other moms are ready to share their tips on how they were successful with their unmedicated birth. Today I’m going to share a handful of tips for a success unmedicated birth so that you can be successful in this birth plan for you and your family.

Practice Relaxation
During an un-medicated birth, the key to allowing your body to have contractions is to get your entire body into a state of relaxation. This is called progressive relaxation where you start with your mind and work your way down your body to relax every inch of your body in preparation of giving birth. You should practice this relaxation technique from the onset of your plan to have an unmedicated birth so that you’re proficient in this skill on birth day.
Stay Healthy
Not only should you plan to eat healthier options during your pregnancy, but be sure to remain physical in a safe way with daily exercise so that your body will be strong enough to endure an unmedicated pregnancy. In addition to exercise and eating habits to stay healthy during your pregnancy, you’ll have to get ample sleep. Your body will go through a lot of physical work during your unmedicated pregnancy. Be sure you stay healthy enough to handle the labor process without medication.
Practice with Ice
This is an old-school method that doctors will use to prepare a woman for unmedicated birth. Quite honestly, ice hurts your hands after holding it for a long period of time but if you can work your strength through this exercise throughout your entire pregnancy then you will be well prepared to be successful in your unmedicated birth. Hold an ice cube in your hand for 60 seconds while talking to your partner, do this again without talking and do this a third time while passing the ice. Continue this practice daily.
Write a Birth Plan
Be certain that your birthing coach and partner know what you want to happen during your labor. While you may opt to beg for medication or complain that it hurts, you’ll want your birth plan to list out that you do not want anyone to give you medication even if you’re screaming in pain during your unmedicated birth. Have a birth plan in place so that your wishes are respected by everyone in the room on the birth day. This will alleviate any regrets later on after you’ve succeeded in giving natural birth to your little bundle of joy.

Having an unmedicated birth plan is considered having a natural birth plan. This plan involves little to no medication, depending on how you develop the plan. Each natural birth occurs in different locations Fand ways depending on the preference of mom and dad. In addition, to using my tips for a successful medicated birth, be sure that all of these ideas have been approved.
