How to Get the Most Out of the Kroger Credit Card, Boost Program, and Fuel Points Save Money on Groceries and Gas the Smart Way!

If you’re anything like me, you’re always looking for easy ways to stretch your grocery and gas budget. That’s why I’ve fallen in love with the Kroger Rewards World Elite Mastercard®, the Kroger Boost membership, and their Fuel Points program. Used together, these tools can seriously cut your monthly costs—and I’m breaking it all down for you today so you can maximize your savings. I’m not getting paid by Kroger for this. I just want to share how I’m saving money and getting my groceries delivered for practically free.

What is the Kroger Credit Card?

The Kroger Rewards World Elite Mastercard® is a credit card offered by U.S. Bank and Kroger. It’s packed with perks, especially if you already shop at Kroger, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, or any Kroger-owned store. Here’s how it works:

  • Earn 2% back on Kroger family of stores (including pharmacy and online orders).
  • Earn 1% back on all other purchases.
  • Bonus Fuel Points: You earn an extra 25¢ off per gallon of fuel for the first 3 months when you redeem at least 100 fuel points. After that, you continue to earn double fuel points on groceries.

🧠 I personally this week saved and only paid $.15 per gallon each month just by combining credit card points with my shopping strategy. I walked out paying 5.65 I think for 35 gallons of gas. My hubby and I always take both cars (you can only get 35 gallons) and our lawnmower if one of our cars doesn’t need that much gas.

What Is Kroger Boost?

Kroger Boost is a paid subscription that gives you free next day delivery, extra Fuel Points, and exclusive discounts. There are two plan options:

  • Boost $69/year: Free next-day delivery and 2x fuel points. This is the one I use.
  • Boost $99/year: Free same-day delivery and 2x fuel points.

If you’re a weekly Kroger shopper and ever do pickup or delivery, this membership pays for itself quickly—especially with gas prices being what they are!

🔍 According to Kroger’s own savings breakdown, the average Boost member saves over $1,000 a year between fuel discounts, delivery savings, and digital coupons. This tracks as I’m on my way to saving $1200 this year according to my Kroger app.

How to Maximize Fuel Points

Kroger’s Fuel Points program is one of the most underrated gas-saving hacks out there. Here’s how to use it smartly:

  • Earn 1 point per $1 spent on groceries.
  • Earn 2x points when you use your Kroger credit card.
  • Earn 2x or more points during special promotions (look in the app or weekly ad).
  • Redeem 100 points for 10¢ off per gallon (up to 35 gallons).
  • Stack up to 1,000 points for $1 off per gallon!
  • Watch your coupons and clip them once per week so you’re always ready.
  • Read your app and see which day they’re offering 4-5x the points if you get a Kroger delivery on this day. Most of the time we do a Friday delivery (order on Thursday) and get 4-5x the points because that’s the day they tell you to have an order delivered on. I’ve also done a Tuesday after 4pm delivery for the same reason. You just have to pay attention in the app.

🛒 Expert Tip: Buy gift cards at Kroger! For every $25 you spend on gift cards, you earn 50 fuel points—sometimes even 4x or 5x during promo periods. I’ve seen people buy Amazon, Target, and restaurant gift cards here before birthdays or holidays. It’s free money in gas savings.

My Personal Strategy to Save BIG:

Here’s how I combine everything:

  1. Use the Kroger app to clip digital coupons and see current Boost and Fuel Point promotions.
  2. Use the Kroger credit card for all Kroger purchases and gas to get 2% back and double Fuel Points.
  3. Buy gift cards I’ll need anyway when there’s a 4x points promotion.
  4. Redeem Fuel Points at Kroger Fuel or Shell stations (partnered with Kroger).
  5. Keep Boost active for 2x fuel points and free delivery during busy weeks.

🚗 I often save $1.00 per gallon on a full tank—35 gallons saved me $35 in one fill-up. That’s serious money!

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re a busy mom, frugal shopper, or just love getting the best deals, using the Kroger Credit Card, Boost Program, and Fuel Points together is a winning combination. It’s not about changing where you shop—it’s about shopping smarter where you already do.
