There’s something deeply comforting about homemade granola. Maybe it’s the smell of cinnamon wafting through the kitchen or the satisfying crunch in every bite. Either way, this granola recipe has become a staple in our house—and once you try it, I think it’ll become one in yours too.

As a busy mom working 3 jobs, I’m always looking for ways to keep breakfasts and snacks simple, nutritious, and affordable. This easy homemade granola checks every box. It’s packed with fiber, healthy fats, and just enough sweetness to satisfy without going overboard. And the best part? You know exactly what’s in it.

🍯 Why Homemade Granola?

Store-bought granola is convenient, but have you ever looked at the ingredient list? So many of them are loaded with sugar, preservatives, or oils you may not want in your pantry. By making your own, you can control everything—sweetness level, ingredients, and texture. Plus we are doing more of that recession cooking now. Making everything we can from scratch to save at the grocery store.

Plus, it’s budget-friendly. One batch can last all week (if your family doesn’t gobble it up the same day!).

🥣 What You’ll Love About This Granola:

  • Customizable: Don’t like raisins? Swap them out for cranberries or chopped apricots. Add nuts, seeds, or even chocolate chips.
  • Meal-prep friendly: Store it in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks—or freeze it in batches.
  • Delicious: Sprinkle it over yogurt, pair it with fresh fruit, pour a little milk over it, or eat it by the handful.

📝 Ingredients I Use (But You Can Mix It Up!)

  • Rolled oats
  • Honey or maple syrup
  • Cinnamon
  • Vanilla extract
  • Peanut butter
  • Optional: flaxseed, chia seeds, dried fruit

👩‍🍳 How to Make It:

  1. Preheat your oven to 275°F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the oats, peanut butter and cinnamon.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together honey/maple syrup, and vanilla.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until fully coated.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly on a baking sheet. You can line with parchment paper or do like we did and no parchment for us..
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, stirring halfway through.
  7. Let it cool completely before adding dried fruit (if using).
  8. Store in an airtight jar or container.

That’s it. So simple, yet so satisfying.

💡 Tips from My Kitchen to Yours:

  • If you like clumpier granola, don’t stir it too much while baking.
  • Toasting the nuts a few minutes before mixing adds even more depth.
  • Make a “granola bar” version by pressing the mixture into a pan and baking a bit longer!

🫶 Final Thoughts

This homemade granola is more than just a recipe—it’s part of our family’s morning routine. I love that my daughter can make a big batch on Sunday and the entire family can enjoy it all week long. Whether you’re a mom juggling lunchboxes or a grandmom looking for a tasty snack, this recipe brings a little extra joy to your pantry.

If you try it, tag me on social—I’d love to see your version! And if you’re looking for more homemade food ideas, make sure to check out my Easy Overnight Oats and my granola bars posts.
