Hi friends,
This isn’t the easiest post to write, but I believe it’s one that needs to be shared. A few weeks ago, I received a diagnosis I wasn’t quite ready for: Type 2 Diabetes.
At first, I felt overwhelmed—so many thoughts raced through my head. What does this mean for my family? What will I eat now? Can I still enjoy cooking and baking? The truth is, I had to pause, take a deep breath, and start learning. I’m not perfect, but I’m trying—and I want to share what’s working for me in case it helps you or someone you love too.
Why I’m Sharing This
If you’ve been diagnosed recently, or even if you’re just feeling uncertain about your blood sugar numbers, you’re not alone. I want this to be a space where we learn and support each other—without shame or guilt. I’ve started making small, manageable changes, and with the help of my doctor and some trial and error in the kitchen, I’ve created tools to keep me on track.

That’s why I’m sharing a Free Diabetic-Friendly Meal Guide, Shopping List & Prep Plan in this post. It’s designed to simplify your week, reduce stress, and help you feel more confident about what’s going on your plate.
What Changed for Me
Let me be real—before my diagnosis, I loved baking cookies for my kids, grabbing fast food on busy days, and not giving much thought to carbs or sugar. But I also knew I hadn’t felt like myself in a while. I was tired all the time. My energy dipped after meals. I just chalked it up to being busy and getting older. But after some routine blood work and a follow-up with my doctor, I got the news.
That wake-up call changed things for me—quickly.
Instead of panicking, I started reading, researching, and asking lots of questions. I worked with a nutritionist, I leaned on trusted diabetes education resources, and I started paying attention to my body. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m seeing progress—and more importantly, I’m feeling better.

A Few Things I’ve Learned So Far
- You don’t have to change everything overnight — Start with breakfast. Or just focus on adding one vegetable per meal.
- It’s okay to grieve the old way of eating — I had a little cry over mashed potatoes. And that’s okay.
- Planning is everything — Having a plan in place helps me make better choices even on my busiest days.
- There are so many resources out there — But not all of them feel relatable. That’s why I’m building tools for us—busy moms and grandmoms who need real-life solutions.

Let’s Do This Together
I know firsthand that a diagnosis can feel isolating. But it doesn’t have to be. Let’s share recipes, tips, frustrations—and most of all, encouragement. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all journey. But with some community and the right tools, we can feel stronger, more energized, and in control again.
📌 Don’t forget to download your free printable guide and start small—one meal, one step, one day at a time.
And if this helped you, I’d love it if you’d share it with a friend or family member who’s walking this road too. We’re stronger together. I’m not a medical professional so please reach out to your doctor about diabetes or prediabetes.
With love and health,
Dina 💛
