I love to be able to use my own chicken broth that I make from the chicken we eat. It’s a cost saving measure and it allows me to know exactly what is in it! I decided to learn how to make bone broth after we bought a rotisserie chicken from Sam’s the other day. I love how inexpensive their chickens are and how much food we can get off of one of them. So here’s my instructions on how to make Instant Pot bone broth fast and efficiently.

How to make Instant Pot Chicken Bone Broth

Print Recipe Pin Recipe
Prep Time 16 minutes mins
Cook Time 4 hours hrs 30 minutes mins
Servings: 16
Course: Soup
Cuisine: American
Ingredients Equipment Method

Ingredients

  • 1/2 onion
  • 2 stalks celery with leaves left on
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 rotisserie chicken bones, skin, etc
  • 1 tbs garlic (minced)

Equipment

  • 1 Instant Pot
  • 1 knife
  • 1 cutting board

Method

  1. Chop your onion and add to your Instant pot.
  2. Chunk up celery and carrots. Add to Instant Pot with 1 tbs garlic.
  3. Add chicken parts, bones, bits, and cover with water.
  4. Cook on high pressure for 2 hours. Allow to naturally release for 20 minutes.
  5. Put lid back on and seal again. Cook on low pressure for another 2 hours.
  6. Allow to cool completely before putting in jars. You can freeze them or then can them so they can sit on your pantry shelf. Please follow proper canning protocol if you decide to can. I froze mine!

I just love making my own broth and utilizing every bit of the chicken. This being prepped and in the freezer helps me to get dinner on the table quicker that night. I just set my chicken broth in the fridge or on the counter and use right away after it defrosts! Then you can make some chicken noodle soup or a chicken pot pie. The ideas are endless. Have you ever made your own broth? It’s so simple and when you utilize the instant pot it does it so fast and makes some of the best bone broth ever!

Here’s my broth ready to use (well after it thaws!). Before you head out check out my other chicken recipes! Then make one for dinner tonight.
