How to make a boxed cake mix taste like a bakery chocolate cake
Equipment
- 1 bundt cake pan
- 1 scraper
Ingredients
- 1 boxed cake mix I used devil's food
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350*. Coat bottom of pan with cooking spray and a dusting of flour.
- Combine cake mix, milk, butter, eggs in a large bowl and mix just until moistened. Beat with a mixer on medium speed for 1.5 minutes. Add chocolate chips and stir in. Pour batter into pans.
- Bake at 350* for 35-45 minutes. Cake is done when toothpick after insertion comes out of cake clean.
- Cool 10-15 minutes in pan. Then remove from pan and let cool completely. Frost after completely cooled then store covered.
My entire family devoured this cake. When prices continue to climb you have to do what you can to cut prices down. Making your family a cake is a labor of love and a great savings. The last cake we bought was almost $65 for a delicious bakery cake. But this cake was less than $5 and just as delicious. You can change it by making a 7 minute frosting if you don’t love the canned frosting. Or maybe even try a buttercream or an Oreo frosting. Either way you can’t go wrong with this delicious cake.
