If there’s one food group I love to eat it would have to be Italian. I mean it is just so yummy. I’ve made many tortellini recipes but there’s always more ways you can make it. That just makes me so happy! This recipe while so terribly simple was also so deliciously good. Here’s how you can make the tortellini alfredo recipe with mushrooms.
Can you believe I forgot to take a photo of the finished product? Trust me when I say it’s that good. That’s my son’s bowl who got there after we all had eaten. I’m grateful that I have him to thank for this photo.
Now we are on a ground turkey and ground chicken kick for our health. But feel free to make this with ground beef or even venison. The ground chicken in here was amazingly good. So, don’t be afraid to try a new meat.

I made this on the stove but in a slow cooker it would be delicious. You can make it in the instant pot or even make it baked in the oven. All of these ways will be a yummy delightful meal for you and your family to eat.

Tortellini Alfredo with Mushrooms recipe
Equipment
- 2 large pots
- 1 cheese grater
- 3 assorted spoons and utensils
- 1 drainer for the cooked tortellini
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 pkg sliced mushrooms
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 1 cup half and half
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 8 oz parmesan cheese finely shredded
- 2 8 oz pkg tortellini (like buitoni or aldi brand)
- 1 lb cooked ground chicken
- 1/4 cut up onion sauteed and then ground chicken cooked with it.
Instructions
- Sautee onion in the large pot on the stove for 4 minutesAdd the ground chicken to the sauteed onion and cook until no pink is left (about 5-7 minutes).Add garlic, half and half, milk and bring to a simmer. Cook until it thickens about 8 minutes. Add in salt, pepper and 1 3/4 c of the parmesan until smooth. Cook the tortellini on the stove according to package directions, drain it and add it and the mushrooms to the cooked mixture of ground chicken and alfredo sauce right before you serve. Add the rest of the parmesan cheese to the top of your bowls. Magnifique.
