The Battle of Nail Beautifiers: Nail Polish vs. Dashing Diva vs. Color Street vs. Lily and Fox Nail Strips vs. Nailogs

1. Nail Polish: Classic Elegance

Nail polish has been a staple in beauty routines for decades, offering a wide range of colors and finishes to suit every style. From glossy to matte, sheer to opaque, nail polish provides endless possibilities for expressing creativity and enhancing your overall look. Here are some key features of traditional nail polish:

  • Variety of Colors: Nail polish brands like OPI, Essie, and Sally Hansen offer an extensive color palette, from subtle nudes to bold neons and everything in between.
  • Application: Applying nail polish involves a base coat, one or two coats of color, and a topcoat for shine and longevity. While it requires some skill and patience, many enjoy the process of painting their nails.
  • Durability: Depending on the brand and quality, nail polish can last anywhere from a few days to a week before chipping or fading, especially when paired with a good topcoat and proper nail care routine, using all the tips, without them chipping at day 4. I went to the salon thinking, “Okay I ‘ll just get them done here.” No, there has to be a better way. This cost too much. They also used the dremel on my nails and split it in middle of my nail. When you are paying that much money to have your nails done, you don’t want to have to cut your nail back so far to try to let the middle of your nail heal. It took almost 3 months of growing it out for it to be okay again. So frustrating to spend that kind of money and have that result. 4 out of 10 for doing your own nails! Maybe I’m just not made to have pretty nails…but wait there’s got to be a better way!

2. Dashing Diva: Instant Glamour

Dashing Diva nail products have gained popularity for their convenience and professional-looking results. They offer a range of options, including press-on nails and nail strips, designed to give you salon-worthy nails at home. Here are some highlights of Dashing Diva products:

  • Easy Application: Dashing Diva’s press-on nails and nail strips are designed for quick and easy application, eliminating the need for drying time or skillful painting.
  • Design Variety: Dashing Diva offers a wide variety of designs, patterns, and finishes, allowing you to achieve trendy and eye-catching looks without the commitment of traditional nail polish.
  • Longevity: While not as long-lasting as salon acrylics, Dashing Diva nails can typically stay intact for several days to a week with proper application and care, making them ideal for special occasions or quick style changes.

The first time I put these on I wasn’t really impressed. They felt yucky and I didn’t really like how they went on. However, once they were on I loved them. They stayed on a solid two weeks without lifting. I did use the uv light and I put a top coat on them as well. I will do all I can to make sure they last the full two weeks. I will use and rebuy these again. 7 out of 10! Update: I haven’t bought any more of these. I do like them but I do feel that I like others more.  They will do in a pinch but not my favorites.

3. Color Street vs. Lily and Fox Nail Strips: Striking Designs, Different Experiences

Color Street and Lily and Fox are two popular brands known for their nail polish strips, providing a fuss-free way to achieve intricate nail art without the need for drying time or professional skills. Here’s a comparison between the two:

  • Color Street: Color Street nail strips are known for their vibrant colors, glitter effects, and durability. They are made of real nail polish, ensuring a glossy finish and easy removal with nail polish remover. These went on easy (although I wasn’t very good at putting them on). They also came off easy. I never noticed them lifting. 8 out of 10! These are actually too wide for my fingers. So, these aren’t my favorite. I gave my Color Street away as I prefer another brand. I did that because I had to do a lot of cutting them down and I just didn’t like how they went on. Every person is different and you may like a different one then I do. My friend and her mom swear by these and they are the only ones they use!

  • Lily and Fox Nail Strips: Lily and Fox also offer a wide range of designs and finishes, including matte and metallic options. Their strips are made of vinyl and are known for their long-lasting wear, often lasting up to two weeks without chipping. I just put these on so stay tuned. They did go on easy. I always use a top coat. I love the price on these! They are great for the 2.99 price point! You get these at their own site only. Right now these are my favorites. They’re not expensive and they have many cute colors and styles. They also fit my fingers really well. But I have small nail beds, so I don’t think they are for everyone.
  • Another tip, I always do my nails and then head to bed so I don’t mess them up! This way they get to be on for a solid 8 hours without being put in water. I do this regardless of whether I do nail polish or nail strips from these companies! Although with the way the strips are working I doubt I will do regular nail polish again! These have turned out to be my absolute favorite. I use them and change them out weekly (usually at day 8-10) just because I like to change!
  • I love that I can usually just pull these off without using acetone. The acetone seems to hurt my nails so them coming off without it is a plus for me. 10/10 These are my absolute favorite, after consistently using them for 3-6 months.

4. Nailogs

This was the first one I tried and I really loved how they went on. They are gel nails that you pull off and place on your nails and then cure under the lights. They looked great for two solid weeks. About the ten day mark I noticed my nails were starting to catch on everything (my hair, shirts, bedding, etc). So, they were lifting. But, I really loved the ease of which they went on. They came off very easy too with just a bit of acetone and pulling them off in one strip. So, going on was easy and coming off was easy as well. I give Nailogs a 6 out of 10. I do still like these however they aren’t my go to. Simply because they do snag in my hair and on everything after the 7-10 day mark it seems.

In conclusion, each of these nail beautifiers offers unique benefits and experiences, catering to different preferences and needs. Whether you prefer the classic elegance of nail polish, the instant glamour of Dashing Diva or Nailogs, or the convenience of nail strips from Color Street or Lily and Fox, there’s a nail product out there to help you achieve your desired look effortlessly. I think they all have their pros and cons. But once you get used to doing them I don’t think you’ll go back to regular nail polish or expensive manicures again!
