If you have a Disney loving friend (or ARE the Disney loving friend) then you know we love anything that has to do with the mouse. So when I was thinking of a housewarming gift I could make a fellow Disney nerd, I knew exactly what to come up with. Who doesn’t need coasters to make sure their brand new coffee table doesn’t get any water marks on them right? And what shape are those coasters usually? Circles! and what can you do with 3 circles? You can make them into Mickey Mouse heads of course! So I knew that’s what I needed to do. And I had to make sure to share this easy and beginner friendly pattern with you all! What I love about this pattern is that it doesn’t take long, and it doesn’t take much yarn. And is great for beginners as it uses simple stitches. Let’s check it out!

Beginner friendly Mickey Mouse Mug Coasters Free Crochet Pattern

In

You Will Need:

  • Any weight 4 yarn that you want. I went with the classic red, white, and black color combo
  • 5 mm crochet hook
  • tapestry needle

Abbreviations
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
hdc – half double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
st – stitch

Instructions:

I start with making the head, and then the ears, but you can start with any part you want!

Head:

Start with a magic ring

Round 1: Ch 2 and place 12 DC into the ring, SLST into the first stitch.

Round 2: Ch 2 DC INC in each st, SLST to first stitch

Round 3: Ch 2 (1 DC, DC Inc) repeat around. SLST to first stich, fasten off

Ears (make 2)

Start with a magic ring

Round 1: Ch 2 and place 12 DC into the ring, SLST into first stitch

Round 2: Ch 2 HDC INC in each stitch, SLST into first stitch, fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing

Assembly:

Now that you have all 3 parts of you coaster made it’s time to assemble them! You will be using your tails from your ears to sew them onto your head. You will want them evenly spaced apart (6 stitches in between each ear.) Sew them on and make sure you are happy with the placement before you tie off your tails.

Once you are happy with where everything is, tie your tails off, tuck them in, and snip them off and you are done!

That’s it! I told you it was going to be easy didn’t I? And how CUTE did they turn out!? Any Disney fan is sure to love receiving these!

I hope you enjoyed this pattern as much as I did writing it!
