I’m always trying to think of ways to be more sustainable. I’m not zero waste and never claimed to be but there are ways you can do things that have less effects on the environment. For instance, when we are running the water to warm up for the shower we keep a bucket in there so that the water gets reused. We then use it on my plants, to make coffee, and to water my pets. It’s a win win. I’m not wasting water and we are using something that would have otherwise been down the drain…literally. Here’s some of my latest swaps.
The last swab. I bought the last swab a month ago and have been using it ever since. I don’t want to purchase anymore q tips so I’m using these and washing them each day and they are ready to reuse the next day! Here’s my last swab. It does take some getting used to but once you’re used to it you are good to go!
Next, I use reusable produce bags. Mine look a lot like these here: produce bags. Once you purchase these are you ready to go get your bananas, lettuce, green onions, etc and you don’t need a plastic bag again. It’s a total win for you and the environment.
Third, I always took my lunch to work and when I did I took my own fork, spoon, and knife and a napkin. This way I can just rewash them and use them the next day if needed. No need to buy reusable bamboo ones just use what you have!
Fourth, is my reusable straw. I love my straws. I don’t have the ones that just go in your purse I just wrap mine in a napkin and use it whenever I’m out and about. I love my stainless steel straw.
Last is my french press. My hubby makes his coffee every day in his french press. He loves it. It requires no filter and it gives him his favorite coffee. I actually bought my french press at a thrift store and I love the color and way it looks. It’s so pretty.
There’s so many ways you can reuse items that you already own. Why not start there? If you can’t, then look for second hand first or ask your friends and family if they are getting rid of any, any time soon. Why not reduce, reuse and recycle? It’s the way to go!
