Till Movie Review an inspiring movie that shouldn’t have happened!

There are so many good things I can say about this movie. Is it hard to watch? Yes. Did they handle everything well (within the framework of telling the story)? Yes! Did I cry? Absolutely. Was it worth it to watch it? Resounding yes.

I’ve always had a sort of fascination with this story. I guess because I just can’t believe someone would do this to a child. But to see it from Mamie’s perspective…was heartbreaking and life giving all at the same time. She (Danielle Deadwyler) gave an amazing performance for her portrayal of Mamie. Such an important story to be told, for sure.

I read up on the movie and was so impressed with the fact that the director said they would only allow two takes on certain shots because she knew how hard it was on the actors to get into this state of emotion. She also let Jalyn Hall have a mom break if he needed it. At one point he said, “can we cut I need a hug?” and she said, “Cut!” This makes me so happy to know that the actors are being taken care of when making a movie with subject that is this hard. I love this so much.

This movie is so powerfully done. It’s also beautifully written and so inspiring. I hope it wins all the awards this award season. Such an important story to be told. I give it 5 out of 5 stars. I don’t think I’ve ever done that before!

Watch the trailer below!

Then go find this movie and watch it today. It is 2 hours well worth it!

The story of Emmett Till is one I grew up hearing. His story should’ve been that he came back home safely, and lived a long and beautiful life surrounded by loved ones and friends.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this film. I’m excited to watch it, but have to pick a time it doesn’t I don’t have to go anywhere after since I know I’m going to cry.

I only cried in one spot. But it’s an important story to be told!
