My daughter and I had an unexpected field trip the other day to the zoo. It was so much fun. We got to see the Nashville Zoo rename their red panda girl Mei Lee in honor of Pixar’s new movie Turning Red, which is out March 11. My daugther is now 16, graduated from high school and working on getting her license. It’s been so long since we have been to the zoo I’m almost embarassed to say. I mean it’s not just for toddlers, you know? We saw so many cute exhibits and had so much fun. Check out our pics below!
It was a cold but beautiful March day and we so enjoyed getting out and reliving our past days at the zoo. They have a new guinea pig exhibit that would be so adorable but the day we visited it was too cold for them. Thank you Nashville Zoo for inviting us to see Mei Lee and enjoying our day out seeing all you had to offer again. So much fun.

Nashville Zoo Press Release!
On Wednesday, March 9, the Nashville Zoo officially turned RED! In celebration of Disney + Pixar’s new film “Turning Red,” the Nashville Zoo held a special ceremony to give the honorary show name of Mei Lee to the Zoo’s resident female red panda.
The red panda enclosure was adorned in festive red, and to the crowd’s delight – the newly introduced Mei Lee was very active and seemingly enjoying her party!
The Zoo’s Carnivore Keeper hosted an enrichment session so guests could learn more about these special animals as well as Disney’s conservation efforts for wild red pandas and their habitats.
Disney and Pixar’s “Turning Red” will stream exclusively on Disney Plus beginning today March 11.
ABOUT TURNING RED: Introduced as the main character of “Turning Red,” Mei Lee is a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. And as if changes to her interests, relationships and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited, she “poofs” into a giant red panda!
