Where are all my summer babies at!? Last week I celebrated my 29th birthday (again, ha!) last week and is it just me, or is this year going by super fast!? I can’t believe it will be fall soon. When it comes to birthdays in my house, we always make a big deal out of them, and usually spend an entire week celebrating the birthday boy/girl. This year my teenager spent a lot of time and effort making sure I had an amazing birthday. One of those things she did was by trying out a recipe for a fun birthday cupcake shake! It’s made with real cupcakes ya’ll! I for one was very excited to try it out and trust me, it did not disappoint. And the beauty of this fun birthday cupcake shake recipe is that it can be tailored to whatever flavors you like! Chocolate, vanilla, caramel, red velvet, funfettie, the choices are endless! And it’s also easy enough that the kiddos can get in on the action of making them too! Let’s check it out!
Here is how to make a fun birthday cupcake shake
Here is what you will need to make this fun birthday cupcake shake recipe (Makes a batch of about 4 shakes):
- 2 cups ice cream of your choice (I used vanilla bean!)
- 1/2 cup almond milk
- a splash of vanilla extract
- 6 mini (or 3 regular) cupcakes in the flavor of your choice
- optional toppings: I used whipped cream, sprinkles, and one of the extra cupcakes
Step 1: In a blender, add all of your shake ingredients. No need to break up the cupcakes, just unwrap them and throw them on in the blender whole!
Step 2: Get to blending! You will know your shake is done when everything is blended smoothly and it pours out easily. If you like a thicker shake, you can shorten your blending time, and if you like it more creamy, add a few more seconds until you get the consistency that you like. We use a Blentec Blender and just used the shake option, and it came out perfectly!
Step 3: Pour your shake into the glass of your choice (side note, we found these super cute happy birthday mugs from the Dollar Tree for $1 each!!) and top with your preferred toppings and enjoy!
See? I told you it was going to be fun and easy. You could also make these in smaller batches if you have a group that all like different flavor combinations. And these kids will have a blast making their own shake to enjoy. You could even set up a Shake Bar with different ice cream flavors, toppings, etc. The possibilities are endless! What flavor combination would you make? Let me know in the comments below!
