5 ways to keep mom healthy for summer

As a mom summer is an important time to get us back on the right track. Whether it’s because we weren’t able to eat right while running the kids everywhere or we were too tired to workout with all the running we did. Summer is a time that we get the chance to take our lives back. We can turn off the alarms (if you’re a stay at home mom you can anyway) and just try to take care of us a little bit better. How can we do that? What are some timely ways that we can put the focus back on ourselves?

5 Ways to Keep Mom (you, yes you) Healthy

  1. Decide every single day to take 30 minutes to work out or walk. I don’t care if it’s a slow stroll you just need to get moving! So turn up the music and dance with your kids if that’s all you can do. Because your kids will love you for it and your body will appreciate the time you spent moving! Just get moving~ every first step starts somewhere start yours today. 
  2.  Add a serving of fruits and vegetables to each meal. If you normally don’t eat anything but a sandwich for lunch add as many veggies as you can to that sandwich. Add lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, onion whatever you like will taste great to you and will help you increase your veggies and/or fruits. Or buy some frozen broccoli that you steam in the microwave and add that to your lunch. These are great little ways to sneak in additional fiber. 
  3. Turn off social media and turn on the music. Crank it up if you want too! Use the time you get yourself off of social media and to take care of you. You can paint your nails, take a bubble bath, go for a swim, read a book, do something creative. Any time spent not on your phone is a good time! So set yourself a timer and give yourself 45 minutes to do something other than your phone or tv. vitamins giveaway
  4. Go declutter a certain area of your house each week. Make one week the kitchen, living room, bathrooms, bedrooms, closets, garage, etc. This should keep you busy and working on decluttering your home as well as your mind. Emptying spots that used to have clutter is a great way to take care of you. Whatever you have not used recently you most certainly will not used if you shove it far back in a cabinet or closet so go ahead and make a spot for items that need to go (either to Goodwill, thrift stores, or to your yard sale). But make sure they’re gone within a month!
  5. Take your vitamins…especially those that are good for women like Iron, Biotin, Zinc plus and more! As women we can let ourselves get run down and it may just be as simple as remembering to take our iron supplement.
