I was invited by Focus Features to review their new coming of age movie, Boogie. All thoughts and opinions are honest and my own.
Review: Boogie An Eddie Huang film
As the movie began you quickly catch on to the coming of age story of a basketball loving teenager from Queens. It was compelling and the characters did pull me into the story and make me feel like I was one of their friends. I did enjoy it but I’m an adult. How does it work for the teens and tweens? Well there is one sex scene in it that was tastefully done. But still there is one scene you need to be aware of for your teens. This movie introduces us to Boogie, a relatable, lovable teen going through life and dealing with the normal day to day problems that teens deal with. I enjoyed the interactions between his parents and their culture and how that played into how Boogie was raised. It was a great peak into how other cultures deal with raising their children. There is a scene that is particularly steamy that you will want to fast forward through if you have teens or tweens in the room. But overall I thought the movie gave a good idea of how life works being a teenager in todays world.
