Super Easy Vanilla Oreo Trifle Recipe
One thing my daughter and I love doing together is any type of baking or cooking! We have a shared pinterest board that we share, and once a week or so we take turns picking a new recipe to try. But with a twist, we always change something about the recipe to make it our own. I came across a recipe for a trifle which was something neither of us had ever made before, so we knew we had to try it! The thing is, my kiddo is not the biggest fan of cake (I know right!?) so she wanted to switch out the traditional sponge cake that usually goes in a trifle and use her favorite sweets, cookies, in instead. I thought that sounded like a perfect addition and it meant I didn’t have to make a cake. That is a win-win. This easy vanilla oreo trifle recipe is super quick to put together and would be perfect for a holiday dessert (as you might can tell from the photo above, we were totally thinking about Valentine’s day when we made this!) or just for when you need something light and sweet!
Ready to learn how to make this super easy vanilla oreo trifle recipe?
Here is what you will need:
- Oreo cookies
- 2 boxes Vanilla pudding mix
- 3 cups Milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 12 oz Cool Whip (thawed)
- Optional: food coloring and/or sprinkles
Step 1: Cream together your cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla.
Step 2: In a separate bowl, combine your vanilla pudding mix and milk. Whisk until combined and put in the fridge until set.
Step 3: While you are waiting for your pudding to set up, grab your Oreos and give them a good smash. They don’t have to be a powder, but you do want them crushed up pretty well so you are easily able to spread them out over your cream that makes up the bulk of your trifle.
Step 4: In the bowl that you made your pudding in, add in your creamed sugar, cream cheese, and butter mixture and mix to combine.
Step 5: Fold in your cool whip into your pudding mixture. Make sure to fold in in, rather than mixing it. This will keep your mixture nice and fluffy, which is what you want!
Step 6: This is an optional step, if you want to give your trifle a little flare, at this point you can add some food coloring and/or sprinkles. We opted for a Valentines Day theme so we used a little bit of red food coloring to get a nice pink color to our fluff, and some red sprinkles!
Step 7: Now that all of our elements are ready, it’s time to build our trifle! This step is super simple, start with a layer of your crushed cookies, then your fluff, and continue this pattern until you finish your trifle. Your top layer should be your last layer of cookies.
And there you have it! In less than 30 minutes you have a delicious super easy vanilla oreo trifle recipe! Perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth.
