Times are so hard, y’all. I’m not even kidding. This pandemic has had me locked in my house with my three kids and numerous dogs for a long time. I get out occasionally to go and get groceries and that’s pretty much it. I don’t see it getting any better either. However, there are things we can do to try to keep ourselves healthy during this time of quarantine. Here’s my 5 ways to stay happy and healthy during this pandemic.

5 Ways to keep yourself happy and healthy during this trying time!

  1. Make sure you take time for self care. Do you like to read? Do you like to craft? Do you like to cook? Whatever it is that you love to do make sure you take time to do that during this time. I have been reading more books lately and I am loving quarantine for this reason alone! Such a sweet time to slow down and enjoy your family.
  2. Take time to workout. Whether it’s a short walk outside or a workout on YouTube. Make sure you take time to take care of your health. Working out is a great stress reliever and way to make your heart healthy and happy. Just do it!
  3. Turn off the news. I know it’s important to be in the know now more than ever. But read the headlines and find what you want to know and turn the media off. They are making your mental health and mine worse. It’s not worth it. I get my weather from an app and if I want to know what’s on the news I watch the first 15 minutes and then it’s off for the rest of the day. I don’t want to know the horror stories. I’m staying in for the most part and wearing my mask!
  4. Drink more water and less sugary drinks. It is so much better for your body if you enjoy that glass of water with a lemon or a lime. When you add the sugar it makes you more cranky and irritable. Start by just adding a glass of water in place of a soda the first day. Then add another glass of water instead of 2 sodas and so on until you are drinking no more than one glass of soda a day and the rest is water. Your body and your family will thank you for that!
  5. Take your vitamins. Taking a regimen of multi vitamins, vitamin c, D3, zinc, and B12 B6 with folic acid is a great regimen to be on. These Superior Source vitamins all instantly dissolve in your mouth instead of having a huge pill to swallow. That’s my favorite thing about them. These vitamins are on sale too. If you are looking for new easy to swallow vitamins why not give them a try.

I find it challenging to stay productive and motivated sometimes. I have only been going out for essentials because the virus is so bad here. It is really challenging going 4+ months without spending time with loved ones and friends.

I have found it difficult to deal with the fact that our state has 5.64 million people in it, and ONLY less than 2,000 covid deaths, more than HALF of those fragile old people in long term care facilities and yet our Governor shuts down the state, creating bankruptcies, homeless increase, so much more…. it’s time to stop the panic. that is what is hard.

You are so right, Dina! I’ve been doing a good job of reading and doing tons of jigsaw puzzles. That’s my self care. And I’ve pretty much stopped watching or even reading the news at this point because it can be so upsetting!

The everyday norm is no more for sure, it’s really tuff with most state, local, federal and county buildings closed along with all the other un mentioned businesses that have closed as well.

I lost my God daughter on 4/30.. This has been an extraordinary bad year. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs throughout the entire pandemic. I’ve been more creative, I’ve talked others out of suicide.

I just wish this year was done.

Grocery shopping is much harder. I try to get in and out of the store as fast as possible. The mask is very hot and air conditioning in store is not high enough most of the time. The most annoying part of shopping is washing all the groceries when I get home.

I’ve been struggling to keep an semi-optimistic attitude. I’m not doing too well at that. We went out to a nice walking bridge this evening. Probably 200+ people there. Maybe two dozen (including us) wearing masks. I kept staring at people, wondering why they don’t care.

These are really good high quality vitamins.

Many things have been challenging during the pandemic. Just being afraid to go out has been the biggest challenge.

Shopping for food is a pain in the butt! We order online, then we have to spray/disinfect everything before bringing it in the house/putting it away… We just did our huge BJ’s order of non-perishables…left them in the garage for 3 days before unpacking them. Thanks and God bless!
