5 Healthy and Quick Snacks for Those Who Work at Home
If you are working from home, you might have gotten used to having a quick snack in between. In the interest of our health and wellbeing, we thought to give you some healthy snack ideas that you could try at home. People that work from home want quick snacks, easy preparation, and lots of flavors – so the only kitchen utensils you will need for our snacks is a knife and some plates! This post shows you how to make a quick snack to get you through your work day.
Veggie Sticks and Hummus
The ultimate low maintenance quick snack ideas involve fresh vegetables with some sort of dip or spread. This version cut up some carrots, bell peppers, celery, cucumber, and salad tomatoes. Serve it with some hummus – there are so many different flavors to choose from.
Homemade Trail Mix
Elevate the classic trail mix with some of your favorite treats. In an airtight jar, mix your favorite nuts – almonds, walnuts, cashew nuts, peanuts, to name but a few. Then add some raisins, dark chocolate chips, and dried cranberries.
Dried Fruit
There are so many different options to choose from, but make sure you want the healthy ones. Some dried fruit is loaded with sugar and other preservatives, so your best bet would be to buy it from a health food store. The variety is huge. It includes – mango, apple, cranberries, guava, peaches, bananas, prunes, and lemon.
Rice Cakes
Store-bought rice cakes are not particularly flavorful or yummy, but you can jazz up this quick snack easily. Spread some peanut butter or chocolate spread on top to add some flavor. Or buy the chocolate-dipped variety in store. You can even add pieces of rice cake to the trail mix recipe above.
Tuna Salad
This is one of those quick snack for work recipes that everyone loves. It is easy to prepare and goes with almost anything. Make a batch of tuna salad – mix canned tuna, mayo, bell pepper, salt, and pepper in a bowl and give a good stir. You can serve this wrapped in lettuce leaves, on cucumber, crackers, brown bread, or mixed in a green salad.
If you are trying to save time, prepare any of these quick snacks in large batches, and store in the fridge or airtight containers. That way, you always have a variety of healthy snacks on hand. Preparing these healthy snacks in advance will also reduce the number of unhealthy snacks you reach for.
