Tips to Stay Motivated to Lose Weight

Set Realistic Expectations

I cannot stress this number one tip any more than I will today. When you’re serious about losing weight and achieving success in this area, it’s important that you set realistic expectations for yourself. There are many ways you can stay motivated to lose weight but I admit this is number one! When you set realistic expectations for yourself based on what your body can handle, what your mind can handle and what your lifestyle can handle for changes, this will keep you motivated to lose weight. If you’re having any problems check out my 5 reasons you’re not losing weight.

Clearly Define Goals

It’s easy to jump on the bandwagon to lose weight and try to find diets that you think will work best for your lifestyle. While diets and other fads out there may work well for you, it’s important that you have defined your weight loss goals clearly. It won’t matter what diet plan, changes or motivation you feel if you don’t have clearly defined goals. Think about how much weight or inches you desire to lose within a specific time period. Set realistic expectations based on clearly defined goals and write them down. You’re going to want to lose weight and stay healthy.

Reward Yourself

Every inch and every pound lost is a step forward towards your clearly defined weight loss goals. Be sure that you have a reward system in place for yourself. Human beings feel naturally motivated when they know a reward is coming. Simple ideas on how you can reward yourself are to have a cheat snack, something small that you’ve given up or perhaps have a special dinner date with a friend. There are many creative rewards you can come up with. Remain firm in rewarding yourself every week or month.

Keep a Journal

Often times we neglect to realize just how much weight we’ve lost along our path of being focused on weight loss. Be sure to keep a weight loss journal to document your day to day progress. This is a great visual to ensure you realize that you’re attaining your goals without having to try to see those results every day you look in the mirror. This weight loss journal can document your success, your trials and your personal thoughts along the journey to stay motivated to lose weight. Then you can wander to my post on is fiber the key to losing weight and see what we found there!
