Out of necessity I have almost always worked multiple jobs. I do it willingly and I do it gratefully. I’m happier when I’m busy and also when I know that regardless of my job status I have plenty of ways to bring in an income. In the last two years I have changed professions. My first real foray out into the real world was to get an office job being an assistant project manager at a local company. I loved working here. It was fun to feel needed and very fulfilling after working for myself for 10 years. Well that job came to an end after 10 months (I could see it coming). So I went back to my chosen profession which was teaching. That job also came to an end in May. I’m so thankful that I have been one who has always done multiple things to earn my income. This has helped ease the transition when we go through those times of having a job to not having a job. Multiple income streams is a necessity today!
How do you find a way to make multiple income streams?
One thing I’d recommend is always looking for opportunities. I have found so many opportunities when I wasn’t looking for them. When they come into your life take time to reflect and think is this one of those multiple income streams I can take advantage of? Will it add benefit to my life? Does it take up too much time? These are the questions I ask myself as each new opportunity arises.
Here’s my multiple income streams that work!
When my last job ended I had a new job in less than 2 weeks. Which is great. But I also had money still coming in from my other revenue avenues. Here’s some revenue streams that I continue to do:
- Blogging which brings in ad revenue and affiliate income.
- Pay someone else’s bills and do their accounting
- Find a way to get paid doing something you already do (for me it was dogs!).
- Then do a job you love as well.
For me this has had such a benefit to my life. When you are unexpectedly out of a job it’s so nice to know you still have income coming in regardless. I went from working for myself for 10 years to working for someone else. Then when you rely on someone else you are at their mercy if they downsize you. This way you can relax and wait for that next opportunity to arise. This is going to be a three part series so make sure you come back next week to see what I have to say about blogging, ad revenue and affiliate income next week. But for now I’d love to challenge you to be looking for that next revenue stream that you can use to make your own. Money coming in is not everything in this world. But it helps when you have three growing kids and bills to pay. Those kids grow out of clothes and shoes regularly right now. They eat us out of house and home too. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love doing whatever it takes to help my family enjoy life. Life is good! Be a good steward of what you have and look to help yourself in the process by finding that next income stream.
