Movie starts out in the early 90s with a lot of great music and references to 90s life: Blockbuster, grunge music, two way pagers and dial up internet to name a few. They did a great job digitally altering Samuel Jackson to be Nick Fury. He looks 30 years younger as he should in the 90s. Brie Larson’s character Vers returns to Earth to chase down a shape shifting alien. She only has fleeting images of a past that includes Earth. She has no idea she has been here before. She slowly figures out her past and struggles with what she perceives to be right, which is her memories have been wiped, and she has been manipulated. This movie has all the usual Marvel humor. It’s enjoyable and fun. Fury and Captain Marvel have a great chemistry. This flick has some great action and adds to the Marvel Lore. Boys will like this movie, but the girls will really love how she has overcome adversity in her life. They will also love how everyone has told her in her life she cant play like the boys or do a man’s job. The big take away from this movie is that she finds in herself how strong she really is. It’s not how many times you get knocked down but how many times you get back up. There is some violence in it. If you have sensitive little ones maybe view it yourself first. If you know yours can watch Marvel then go for it. I would recommend it for 10 and up unless they’re sensitive to violence. It’s just the usual super hero violence (villain up against a wall kind of thing but still).
