Back to school season is almost here and with that comes the need to create some easy lunches to start the school year with. Many parents and children alike will wake up those first few weeks of back to school season groggy and not quite motivated to do much. This is why it’s always good to have some easy lunches to start the school year with. There’s not enough time during this transitional stage to get overly crafty with lunches. Today I’m sharing a few easy school lunch ideas for you and your family so that you won’t be overwhelmed with having to create extravagant school lunches during these first few weeks of back to school season. Let’s check out some of my favorites!
Easy Lunches to Start the School Year With
Tuna Salad
Some children love tuna salad sandwiches and they’re rather easy to whip up. Grab a can or pouch of tuna, mix it up with some may and place it on a slice of bread. You can even top this with a bit of lettuce or mix tuna up with celery for added texture. Pair it with some fresh cut veggies and dip, or a small bag of chips and you have a lunch that is easy to grab and go, and the kids will actually eat!
Crackers, Cheese, and Lunch Meat
Think of this easy lunch to start the school year with as you would a Lunchable that can be purchased at the store. Put a few crackers, a few slices of cheese and lunch meat in a Tupperware container. This is an easy lunch to start the school year with and can be prepared ahead of time for the full week. This homemade version of a classic school lunch is not only healthier than the store bought version, but can be customized with any combination of meat and cheese that your kiddo likes. It also ends up being a little cheaper as well. That’s a win-win in my book!
Pasta Salad Lover
Whip up some homemade pasta salad, and pack that with a side of yogurt. Add a granola bar and raspberries as a side to complete this easy school lunch idea. You can use a Bento box for easy division of these items in the lunchbox. And again the best part of making something homemade is that you can customize what’s in the pasta salad to what your kiddos like to eat. Plus, it’s a dish best served cold so no worrying about trying to keep something warm, or having to heat it up when they get to school.
Elvis Burrito
I just heard of this term, and from what I hear, it’s a kid favorite! It’s basically a soft tortilla shell with sunflower seed butter (Or good old peanut butter if your children’s school allows it) . Sprinkle with crumbled bacon and then drizzle with honey. You can place a full banana in the wrap or slice it up, then wrap the tortilla like a burrito and place in your child’s school lunchbox. It’s that perfect combination of sweet and salty with some protein to keep them full for the rest of the school day.
Turkey Roll-Ups
Grab a Bento-style lunch box container, place turkey roll-ups inside with fresh berries, yogurt and trail mix. This can easily be prepared for the entire week on Sunday and makes for an easy lunch to start the school year off right. This is a great meal for kiddos that are sick of traditional sandwiches and can be customized with different cheeses and you can even roll up some veggies in there as well!
Bagel Addicts
Grab a bagel, put some cream cheese on it with a yogurt tube, baby carrots, and fruit snacks. This is an easy back to school lunch idea for children who love their bagel and cream cheese. Switch this easy lunch idea up with jelly or sunflower seed butter on the bagel. You could even swap out bread on your kids favorite sandwich with a bagel for a new twist on a lunch time classic.
There you have it, a few easy lunches to start the school year with for both adults and children. Anyone can enjoy all of these back to school lunch options I’ve shared today. Which one of these easy lunch ideas for back to school would you enjoy most?
