It’s about 3 months into the new year. I’ve been trying to lose weight and keep it off this year. I thought it might be fun to share what I have been doing that is working in jumpstarting my weight loss! Check out my

The first thing I did was to make a few simple swaps. I swapped my regular full fat milk for the Hood Dairy beverage. My kids love it and I love that there’s less calories than in regular milk. Hood Calorie Countdown is a creamy milky smooth dairy beverage that has 42% fewer calories, 75% less sugar and 67% fewer carbohydrates than milk. That makes my new found smaller waist happy! I’m down 15 pounds and feel better!

I went with their Calorie Countdown 2% Reduced Fat (per 1 cup serving). I love that it has 70 calories or 42% fewer calories than traditional whole milk. It als0 has only 3 grams carbs which is 75% fewer carbs than traditional whole milk. Seeing as I’m trying to cut down on sugars the Hood Calorie Countdown only has 2 grams sugar or 75% less sugar than traditional whole milk. It’s interesting to know that Calorie Countdown blends ultra-filtered milk with water, cream (and other ingredients) for a delicious and creamy taste and yet still has fewer calories, less sugar, and fewer carbohydrates than regular milk. You can’t resist Calorie Countdown when you know it is made with milk from farmers who pledge not to use artificial growth hormones. I love that I can grab it when I’m getting my hubby’s prescriptions and groceries at my local Walmart!

With Whole, 2%, Fat Free and even a chocolate-flavored choice to pick from, you’ll never have to go without dairy again. I need to drink the chocolate flavored Hood Dairy beverage stat! They say that chocolate Hood dairy beverage smoothies are a great after workout snack add in some spinach, apple and banana and you’d be all set. So try that next! You can grab a to try it here.

I also began making simple meals. Take breakfast for instant, I used to eat a bagel which is super high in calories. I swapped that for a hard boiled egg. I lost almost 130 calories just making that swap. The hard boiled egg helps me feel full longer too. It’s definitely been a good thing for my overall weight loss. I work full time, go to school, and blog on the weekends. I need fast and easy for me to be able to achieve my weight loss at all! I’m too busy for meal prep and other things that take a lot of time.

I eat smaller portions of everything. If I want a cookie I have one but I just have one. I swapped my high calorie soft drink that I love and dearly miss for a glass of tea that is sweetened with a half cup of sugar per gallon of tea. It gives me the taste I want without too much sugar. It has been surprisingly easy to give up my daily soda habit. I limit it to two a week now. I love that first sip when I have it though.

The next swap is one that was hard for me to do. I swapped out bread. If I make a sandwich I eat it on one slice of bread or I order my sandwich and eat the inside but not the bread. I am a carbaholic so this swap is hard for me. But once I did it it’s really not been that bad. I don’t really even miss the bread anymore.

To make sure my meal lasts longer my snacks now consists of apples and clementines. The apple gives me enough fiber to keep me full longer. The clementine satisfies my sweet tooth. Losing weight isn’t easy but it sure is worth it. 15 down and 30 to go. This is the year I will lose that weight and keep it off. What swaps have you made that helped you lose weight?

Hmmm I’ve never heard of Hood. I have been looking for a milk with lower calories to use in my lattes so that I don’t have to completely give them up while trying to drop some pounds. I’m definitely going to give this a try!

Oh wow! I love that it helps you loose weight. I never would have thought that a dairy product would help with that. Keep up the great work!

Totally agree with you on portion control. It’s okay to eat cookies! Just smaller amounts!

How have I not seen this before? I will look for it next time I am at the store. I see no need for all the sugar in products these days so it is good to see Hood is on top of that!

Good luck with your weight loss. It is a lifestyle change for sure. For me eating something for breakfast really helped me. I was never much of a breakfast eater and figured it would never help with weight loss but I was so wrong. It helps.

I agree that a simple change like switching milk can help with weight loss. These tips sound helpful.

That Hood’s milk sounds like it would be very helpful for those losing weight. I agree with all your swaps, but I do miss bread! I follow a Keto style diet and we make a thing called fat bombs that are very good and satisfy my cravings for ice cream.

I’ve never had this drink but will happily try it as a replacement to milk in the morning. For me losing weight really begins with changing my routine – you know the one that happily allowed me to gain 15 pounds over winter?! 🙁 I definitely need to plan on being more active in the morning before the day gets busy.
