There’s just something about having your friends over for football and snacks. It’s one of my husband’s favorite time of the year. Who doesn’t love friends and football, am I right? We have a tendency to try to find hearty dips that can be used as a meal as well as a snack. It fills you up and gives you lots of protein too. My favorite dips pair well with Coca-Cola and Ritz crackers. These two are staples at our game day table. Let’s see what fun recipe I came up for as a game time day snack idea for football and friends.
There’s two things that say Game Time to us as a family. That is an ice cold Coke and Ritz crackers. The two go together and they just make my mouth happy. Speaking of happy, my husband and I have been unhappy with the store bought pimento cheese. It just doesn’t have the taste from my childhood that I remember. So I decided it was time for me to make it myself. Check out my homemade pimento cheese recipes and make some for you and your friends.
Homemade Pimento Cheese Recipe
Pimento Cheese Ingredients:
Pimentos 4 0z jar drained
softened cream cheese (I used neufchatel) 8 oz
2 cups extra sharp cheddar cheese shredded (do not buy it this way you have to shred it yourself so there’s no coating on it like there is on the kind you buy)
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
salt to taste
Place the cheddar cheese, cream cheese, mayonnaise, and spices into mixer. Mix with paddle from your mixer on medium speed. Salt and pepper to taste. I also add 2 tsp pickle juice as a secret ingredient. Trust me this is so delicious. The pimento cheese of my childhood.

We grabbed all our ingredients at Walmart to make this game time snack. My family is a huge Coca-Cola family too. While I was at Walmart I made sure to grab some Coca-Cola to go with our meal. Ice cold Coke pairs well with any dip you can come up with. Try it with our homemade pimento cheese and see if your family loves it as much as mine.
I loved that this was filling enough to make everyone who came full. The Ritz crackers and pimento cheese was a touchdown. It’s savory and buttery goodness that we all enjoy.

That’s a delish football game day spread! Pimento cheese always brings back memories for me as I grew up eating and my Mom loved eating it on sandwiches!

The dip looks good. But I won’t be watching any football.
