It’s that time of year. Can you feel it in the air? It’s been cooler here this week and I have to admit I love Fall way more than the 100* days of summer. I love the late nights sitting on my back deck listening to the crickets and the birds. I love the early morning blogging done at my outside table overlooking my dogs taking a break and enjoying their early morning quiet time. What I don’t love? I don’t love cleaning out my garage though. My husband, on the other hand, wants that garage cleaned out and ready for winter. I had tons of clothes and items to have a garage sale with in there two weeks ago. I had great plans. Then I got a full time job and they all went by the wayside. So, we had to get rid of the garage sale items and clean our garage out. He wasn’t going to let me get out of it. Here’s how to clean your garage in three easy steps.
When we set about cleaning out our garage we decided to do it in 3 sections. We got rid of our garage sale items first. So purge first. Then we tackled cleaning our tools. My husband cleaned the lawn mower and got it ready by cleaning the filters and housing. We used our Mean Green Auto and Garage cleaner and degreaser for this job. It was a big job. We love the Mean Green Auto and Garage because it is a concentrated, multi-purpose cleaner and degreaser. It’s also specially formulated to remove and dissolve petroleum based grease, grime, and oil from engines, tools, and concrete, to outdoor furniture, grills, painted surfaces, and more. This makes my husband a happy man. Did you know that Mean Green is the #1 Heavy Duty cleaner!
Check out the pictures.
My hubby loves to have a clean and cared for lawn mower and garage. I so wish I had taken a before picture of my garage with all the items we were getting rid of. It feels so fabulous to purge and clean out each year. It’s good for the soul.
The next step we did was to organize our garage. We made sure all the tools were in their home. Then we organized and put our gardening tools together. Our items for the lawnmower were together. My laundry room is now organized with all the items we need just for the laundry in that area. It feels so much better to know where our items live.
The last thing we did was to sweep out and clean. We cleaned our windows. Wiped down our shelves and then swept out the garage. Mean Green has new heavy duty wipes that would have been perfect for that job. Mean Green Super Strength Heavy Duty wipes are specially formulated to out-clean other brands on tough grease and grime. It easily removes grease, grime, oil, adhesives, and other tough messes from various surfaces. We love that it’s ideal for the kitchen, bathroom, workshop, garage, DIY projects, construction sites, commercial cleaning, in the home, or on the move! I plan on grabbing them this weekend. The big job of cleaning our garage went pretty smoothly too. I wasn’t excited to start this process but the picture you see below made it all worth it.
The next project I need to tackle is washing my car. We have 4 cars at our house and a 2 car garage. The problem is with 4 cars we can’t pull into our garage because if we do that means the others can’t park their cars right outside the garage where we have the largest space for parking. So our garage doesn’t house our cars any more. At our old house I always parked in the garage. It’s just not possible here. So today I plan on washing my dirty car. We have 14 trees on our lot. That means a lot of sap and tree debris gets dropped on our cars. Mean Green has a new Car Wash product that can take care of that for me without even using a bucket. Mean Green Car Wash is specifically formulated to deliver rich foam that effortlessly removes dirt and grime without leaving behind streaks or spots. I love that it cleans cars quickly and with confidence. You can even use Mean Green Car Wash for at home
convenience, right from your garden hose. NO BUCKET NEEDED! That’s another item I need to grab this weekend at the store.

Very timely advice for me. I bought a new house and between the paint and various other things the old owners left behind and the boxes I stashed in the garage until I could get rid of them, the garage was pretty much a catastrophe. I have gotten rid of most of it but I still have many cans of paint, a queen sized box spring and a few odds and ends in there, along with a few spiders (ran out of bug spray) and some dirt and grime.

Thanks for the advice! Our garage is currently a mess!! We moved in earlier this year into out house and have a lot of stuff in the garage that was left in the house. We’re going to hopefully clean it out in a few weeks!!

I wish we had a garage, we have so much just sitting in the yard. I will be glad when the weather cools down I am ready to get the yard in order on my end.

This is great advice, thank you! 🙂

I love your advice! I admit that cleaning out our garage is one of the things I hate to do the most. So much has accumulated through the year and going through it all seems like so much work. This year I am going to tackle it bit by bit and make piles of throw away, donate and save.
