Are you looking for a fun side dish that will make everyone happy? Broccoli bacon salad is our go to side dish for many events in our family. It’s delicious but also sweet and wangy too. To me it’s the perfect side to chicken or pork chops. We love it all year round. From winter sides to summer potlucks it’s versatile, delicious and something my kids and adults look forward too.

And now check out my broccoli bacon salad recipe just like my grandma used to make!
- Broccoli (you can use a head of broccoli and cut up or be lazy like me and buy it already cut up)
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 red onion chopped fine
- 6-8 pieces of cooked bacon chopped
- 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
- 1/2 to 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1 cup mayonaise
- 2 tbs vinegar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- Chop up broccoli and place in a good sized bowl. Chop 1/2 of a red onion. Add 1/2 cup raisins, 1/4 cup sunflower seeds, 1/4 cup of sugar, 2 tbs vinegar, 1 cup shredded cheese, 1 cup mayo. Stir together and place in refridgerator for 2 hours before serving. This allows the beautiful flavors to meld. If you'd like to hold off on the onions until right before serving you can. To me onions are very powerful and I don't really want them melding. Ha! Serve as a side dish to anything from barbecue, chicken or pork chops. It's a delicious side and so easy to make. My family eats this up quickly when I make it. So check it out and make it for yourself.
