Looking for another great homemade gift idea? I’ve got a delicious one for you! I made this last week in my slow cooker and they taste fantastic. These are so expensive to buy and it’s so much cheaper to make it yourself. If you’re looking for homemade gift ideas I’ve got lots coming this next month. So stay tuned. And now my Sugar and Spice Candied Nuts made in the slow cooker recipe.

Sugar and Spice Nuts in the Slow Cooker Ingredients

sugar and spice nuts in the slow cooker

1 cup white sugar

1 cup brown sugar

2 tbs ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

1/2 tsp ground ginger

pinch salt

1 egg white

1 tbs vanilla extract

2.5 cups pecan halves

2.5 cups walnuts

1/4 cup water (saved for the last 20 minutes of cooking)

This recipe was so easy and so good! It will be a hit with the friends and family you share it with. Only you will know how easy it was. My son even took these to school to eat for snack today. They’re so good kids eat them!

Directions for making Sugar and Spice Candied Nuts

sugar and spice nuts made in the slow cooker

Spray cooking spray to the inside of your slow cooker. Then add nuts to the slow cooker. Beat egg white and vanilla extract until frothy. Then add to nuts. Mix to coat. Next mix well all dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Once mixed sprinkle in slow cooker. Stir to coat all nuts. Then set the time for every 20 minutes to stir. These cook for 3 hours on low. Every time I went in to stir I just set another timer. The last 20 minutes stir, add water and stir some more.  Whatever you do…make sure you stir every 20 minutes so nothing burns. After the last timer goes off lay out a piece of parchment paper on the counter. Spread your candied nuts out on the parchment paper and let them dry out. After about 15 minutes they are perfection. Taste test and enjoy! Break up the clumps that stick together and then bottle them up and give them to friends and family. My mom loves nuts like this so I made her a jar of these and will give them to her on Thanksgiving. Enjoy Mom! Enjoy everyone!
