The Jungle Book Movie Review
Did you hear? The Jungle Book is out on BluRay and dvd now! So make sure you run out and get yours. Disney brought me out on an all expenses paid trip to bring you these fun tidbits from the Jungle Book release! I have to admit that the Jungle Book is a favorite classic of mine. I have loved it since sharing the vhs with my first born son. We constantly sang “Bear Necessities.” Such a lovely memory we have shared over this movie. Wondering what we thought of this movie? Check out our Jungle Book Movie Review.
First thing you notice as your watching this movie is that the fact that it is CGI completely disappears. You are so taken with the story and the scenery that you forget that what you’re watching was produced on one studio lot. It was not filmed in the Jungle or anywhere else. The scenery is stunning. The storyline kept me interested right up until it was over. Then I was able to watch all those fun bonus features too. My entire family sat in the living room watching it. That’s unusual for us watching a movie. Usually one of us does get bored and decides to do something else and leave the room. My 10 year old enjoyed it. My 13 year old enjoyed it. My 19 year old enjoyed it (probably the most because of his love for the other movie) and even my hubby and I loved it. So if you’re looking for a good movie to watch run out and pick this one up. It’s a great family movie.

And now the Bonus features on the Jungle Book
The first bonus feature you can view is how the Jungle Book was reimagined. You get to discover the subtle nuances that made this film different from the original. Fun things like how they redid the Disney castle in the beginning of the show. It’s not done using new technology. It was done using the old technology.
I am Mowgli introduces you to Neel Sethi. He’s a new actor who had never done any acting much less acting with CGI. Jon Favreau made the decision to use puppets to help Neel act. A lot of experienced actors can act with a tennis ball on a stick for help in where to look. But since this was Neel’s first time Jon felt he would get a better reaction using the puppets. He was spot on! You’ll learn much more about Neel and his acting in this feature.
King Louie’s Temple Layer by Layer gives us a fun look at how the “I wan’na Be Like You” was made. I personally love that song. Christopher Walken really brought this character to life. It’s really interesting to see the behind the scenes of what they had to do to bring the scenes to life.
There’s a fun bonus feature with Bill Murray and the making of Bear Necessities that you won’t want to miss either. They made it in New Orleans!
The last bonus feature is an audio commentary with director Jon Favreau. This was one of my favorites. Seeing what Jon had envisioned come to life was epic. He’s the real deal. If I could interview one person it would be him. I’d love to pick his brain.
So now that you know how cool the bonus features and the movie is make sure you pick up the Jungle Book today on bluray and dvd.
