Yum

From Scratch Banana Pudding Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1/3 c all purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 cups whole milk
4 eggs separated
one box of vanilla wafers
6-7 bananas
6 tbs sugar

double boiler

Banana Pudding Recipe Instructions

I made a double boiler to finish my homemade banana pudding recipe. It’s very dangerous. If you do this please make sure you do your research. It’s better just to buy one online than to make one. My mom got very hurt making banana pudding and making her own double boiler. I made mine with a pyrex bowl and a large pot. If your bowl fits too tightly in the pot it is dangerous. Mine fit very tightly. So I added toothpicks around the edge of the bowl and the pot. This allows for some pressure to release and not build up. Next time I’m buying this double boiler (I may get a nickel if you buy the double boiler in the link). I was scared to death. LOL Maybe youtube it before you make a double boiler. Anyway in your double boiler add the sugar, flour, salt, milk and egg yolks. Stir constantly until it thickens. This takes awhile. It took about 20 minutes for me. The last 5 minutes I turned it off and just stirred it. Again because I have a healthy fear of double boilers. Then I added 1 tsp of vanilla extract and stirred.

cut up bananas and add nilla wafers to pan

I began layering vanilla wafers and bananas. To that I added my custard and then another layer of vanilla wafers and bananas.

how to make meringue

Add your egg whites to your mixer. Then add one tablespoon of sugar at a time to the egg whites. Mix until stiff peaks form. Then spoon it on your banana pudding mixture. Bake at 425* until the peaks begin to golden brown. It doesn’t take long. Stay with it! Eat and enjoy! It’s so good!
