Every year we take a beach vacation to Pensacola, Florida. It’s one of our favorite places to go. We love to hit the beach and just relax. I don’t know about you but if I’m at home I do not rest like I do on vacation. On vacation I don’t think about all the things I have to do. I just enjoy relaxing and being with my family. Since we love to go to the Pensacola/Perdido Key area I thought I’d share a list of things you can do that do not cost a lot of money! Check out my inexpensive Pensacola things to do list!
Fun and free things to do in Pensacola, FL
One of the fun things we love to do is see Fort Pickens. We buy a National Seashore pass for $30 a year. This gets us into Johnson Beach (where the locals go) and to anything that’s part of the National Seashore. So we go swim on the beach and relax. Then when we have a rainy day we may go to Ft. Pickens or Ft. Barancas (on the actual Naval base) and check out their museum and their fun batteries and areas that they would use to protect our land. There’s a lighthouse you can go to the top in on the Naval Air base but you have to pay like $12 to go to the top. We just take pictures of the lighthouse and don’t pay to go to the top! That’s free!

Here’s my son being silly. He’s sitting in the window at the fort. Not only does this have a museum and many things to do and see but you can camp here. I want to camp here!
The picture opportunities are amazing. Get some family photos while your here!
Another beautiful shot that you could do stairsteps of the kids!
You can also visit the Naval Air Museum. This place is amazing. They run on donations so there’s not a fee but it’s always nice if you can donate to keep it running. They have so much to see and do here.
We did the trolley tour. It takes you to all the old planes that they are in the process of restoring and showing off. There’s a lot of history at the NAS.
There’s two hangars full of planes here. In one area they show you what life was like during WWII. It’s like a step back in time.
There’s so much for the kids to do here. They can get in planes and experience the buttons and pulls of an airplane. There’s simulators that they can ride. My hubby rode it with my son and it was fun to see how my son piloted the plane as compared to the screams when my hubby piloted the plane. My son is a bit like me. I was like no way and no thanks.
The Naval Air Museum has planes hanging from 2 different hangars. There’s so much to see and do here. The history is amazizng.
There’s so much to do in Pensacola. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to learn history, relax and enjoy the beach. If you go on Tuesday and Wednesday to Pensacola Beach the Navy’s Blue Angels do their practicing at that time. They’ve flown over while we were at the beach and while we were at the Naval Air Museum. It was fun to watch them from the Naval Air Museum. You just walk outside and look up!
Have you ever been to Pensacola, FL? What would you do while there?
