DIY Grill Set Holder Sign- Perfect For Fathers Day!
Fathers Day is right around the corner ya’ll! Have you decided how you are going to show the special man in your life how much you care? I love any reason to craft, and holidays are always a good reason to break out the craft box and see what you can come up with. Like most “typical” dads, my husband loves to spend some time outside with a cold beverage while grilling up our family some tasty treats. So when it came to thinking of what to get him for Fathers Day I knew I wanted to do something grill related. As I was cruising through pinterest (a crafters dream website) I stumbled across a few ideas that I loved. So I put them all together and decided to try my hand at making this DIY Grill Set Holder Sign! It’s perfect for holding my husbands grilling set, it was cheap to make, and I know he will just love it! I actually already had everything I needed to make this already at home, but don’t fret if you don’t. It would cost about….$10 to make this if you had to buy everything (minus the grilling tools themselves of course). Let’s check out how to make it shall we?
Here is how to make my DIY Grill Set Holder Sign:
You Will Need:
- A wooden board (I got mine for 40% off with a coupon from Michaels. So it ended up being $4!)
- Paint color of choice (You will need one for the base, and any additional colors you will be using if you are going to hand paint or use a stencil for the words)
- Picture Hangers (I used command strips!)
- Optional: I used a Silhouette Cutting Machine for the words and artwork. I cut them out in vinyl. Because my painting skills are seriously lacking.
Step 1: First you will want to paint your wood. you could stain it, leave it natural, or pick your favorite colors. I chose gold because it looks great with the black vinyl I used! You will want to make sure to give it a couple of layers of paint because some wood can be quite porous. Let it dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Step 2: Now it’s time to decide what you want your DIY Grill Set Holder Sign to say. I decided to go with “Grilling & Chilling” because it flowed nicely. I picked a font I like and i cut it out in vinyl. (I also found a super cute cut file for a Papa Bear logo and knew I had to add that in as well. If you have a cutting machine, here is where I purchased the file from, it also comes with a ton more as well as fonts!) Now if you don’t have a vinyl cutting machine you could hand paint the words on or use a stencil! You will again want to make sure your sign is completely dry before moving to the next step.
Step 3: Once your sign is dry, it’s time to attach your picture hangers. This is where your tools will hang from, so you will want to make sure you place them high enough for the entire tool to hang on the board. Press firmly, you don’t want them falling off when they get some weight on them right?
Ta-Da! In 3 simple steps you have a really awesome DIY Grill Set Holder Sign that any dad would be proud to own! You could also use this same base model and make a gardening tool holder, kitchen tool holder, or garage holder set! I hope you enjoy!
