These are my fur babies. I just don’t feel like my house would be a home without them. They make life interesting. I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure they get what they need to live a long healthy life. That begins with good food and with preventative care. I’m always trying to make sure they have what they need, right down to them taking their heartworm preventative. As I was doing my research I found that Virbac® Sentinel® Spectrum® does more than one job. It doesn’t just prevent heartworms. It also is a tasty chew that protects my dog against three parasite groups. It protects against heartworms. It protects against intestinal worms – roundworm, whipworm, hookworm and tapeworm. And finally it protects against fleas. You can find it at your local vet and it’s available by prescription only. Sentinel Spectrum is available in 4 different sizes and can be used safely for dogs six weeks of age or older. I love that they cover so many parasites. It makes me feel better to know my pets are protected.
My experience with Sentinel Spectrum
I gave the Sentinel Spectrum to my dogs and they gobbled it up. They seemed to really enjoy it and thought of it like a treat. I think they’ve been on it about 3 weeks. I will be doing a post a month for 3 months to let you know how it’s working. So far we’ve not had any problems and the dogs seem happy and normal.
You have to make sure before you get your Sentinel Spectrum that you have a heartworm test. This is by prescription only and will require a trip to the vet. My vet was super nice about it. The test wasn’t too expensive. I believe it was around $20 for the test. Then I bought my Sentinel Spectrum. You can get it from your vet or get the prescription and get it from a reputable online pet store. Right now there’s a rebate too. I love getting money back from something I needed anyway. And yes I did apply for my rebate already! So make sure you do too!
Have your pets been to the vet recently? Did you get their heartworm test? It’s imperative at any time of year to keep our babies protected!

Pets can be such a big part of your family! We always think to take our kids to the doctor, but many people forget to take their pets to a vet. I need to look into Sentinel Spectrum — and thanks for the heads up on the rebate!
This is a great reminder for my fur babies! With two small babes it is easy for something like this to go unnoticed. Thanks for the reminder?✨
We have a neighbor that helped a shelter dog beat heart-worm. It was a long and hard battle. Very costly and painful for the dog. Sad when it can be prevented.
We don’t have any dogs but I remember when my aunt’s dog got worms. I’ll have to share this with my brother and my sister in law. They have a fur baby and I’m sure they don’t want anything to happen to him.
This is helpful information to pass along to family members who have dogs! I owned a dog when I was a kid, but haven’t had one since. Good advice worth sharing!
My sweet girl is getting pretty old (almost ten years old) and it is so incredibly important to us to keep her healthy for as long as possible. Thankfully she absolutely loves her heartworm medication so we don’t have a problem getting her to take it. Thanks for sharing your suggestion for all of the parents of fur babies out there.
It’s good to know and be more aware about heartworms. Many “pet parents” may not know this but trying out Sentinel Spectrum may be of great help. How often do you visit the vet with your pet?
I know what you mean about a home just not being a home without our pets. We have made sure that our Great Dane has been on heartworm medication ever since she was old enough to take it safely. While we have always used Heartguard, I may ask our vet if Sentinel Spectrum would be a better way to go the next time she has a checkup.
I find it distressing when people don’t care properly for their animals, so this is a good reminder for everyone with ‘fur babies.’ It’s good to know that this product prevents fleas, too. Your dogs are too cute.
aww thank you Carol!! 🙂
