It’s freezing here today. We’ve gotten about 3 inches of snow so far and it’s still falling. Living in Nashville we do not get a lot of snow. We might get 3 inches a year. So today my kids and husband are all excited that everyone has the day off and we can go get out and play in the snow. While they’re out there I’m inside throwing this together for us to enjoy when we’ve been outside too long and need to warm up! Check out my Slow Cooker Hot Cocoa recipe!

slow cooker hot cocoa ingredients recipe

Ingredients:
Slow cooker
milk
sweetened condensed milk
cocoa powder
vanilla
salt
marshmallows

whisk the ingredients into the slow cooker

Making this recipe was not a chore. It was quick and easy and so simple. The taste is rich and decadent and to die for. Here’s how I made it.

Add 1/2 cup dry baking cocoa
12 oz can sweetened condensed milk
1/8 tsp salt
7 1/2 cups milk
1.5 tsp vanilla

whisk ingredients in slow cooker hot cocoa 1

Add all to your slow cooker and whisk it until mixed. Put on high for 30 minutes and then on low until all gone! This is a great easy recipe that I almost always have the ingredients to. I usually don’t have heavy cream so I looked until I found a recipe with all the ingredients in my house.

I found a recipe on Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate here. I adapted her recipe. I love a rich hot cocoa. You do need to give the slow cooker time to warm up the hot cocoa though. So make it before the kids head out. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. It’s barely noon and it’s almost gone. Here’s some pics of our snow day. We relish the time we get it because it’s very few and far between. We close before snow moves in here! haha.

What are your favorite hot cocoa toppings? We did marshmallows. We’ve also done chocolate chips, peppermint sticks, toffee, caramel sauce and whipped cream. Did you try it? Tell me what you think!

I’ve never been very creative when it comes to hot cocoa. I’ve usually settled for the packaged powder. If it came with mini (hardened marshmallows), so be it. This sounds way better than anything I’ve served to my guys!

I’m sure they would love it with this weather we’re having, even though we barely got a super light dusting of snow. It’s just so cold and windy.

I’m definitely going to try them with peppermint sticks. I bet Travis would love caramel and Nicholas would love Whipped Cream!
