My husband and I have been married for 22 years. I love that man so much. Here at the holidays, it’s just as important as at any other time that we make sure to make time for each other. Having three kids we understand the dilemma of spending time together and not spending money right here at the holidays. We always make time for each other in any way we can. We make our date nights in such a way that we don’t need a babysitter if we can. There’s always a way to find time to spend with your mate. Here’s our 12 Days of Romance that I have planned for us this month featuring how our date nights will go. Each idea is a separate way to spend time together as a date night. Don’t let the hustle and bustle of the holiday distract you from focusing on your relationship.
This is one of our date nights. We were out alone celebrating our 22nd anniversary!

1. Put the kids to bed early. Then pop popcorn and watch a show snuggled up on the couch together.
2. Make a nice dessert for the two of you to share in front of the fire.
3. Leave love notes all over the house and car as your spouse is preparing for work. It’s nice for them to know they’re thinking of you while at work or school and a way to add anticipation to your date night. Then bring them to date night and share your favorites.
4. Find your massage items and give your partner a massage. A great deep tissue massage is so relaxing and great for you to help set your spouse at ease. Get them relaxed and let them enjoy simply being with you. I got my massager and the K-Y® TOUCH® at my local Wal-Mart. Make sure you get the $2 off coupon here to save you money on your K-Y® TOUCH® like I did.
5. Create a special dinner for you and your spouse and eat by candlelight. Keep the closeness alive by spending one-on-one time together.
6. Buy a bottle of wine or champagne and drink it with chocolate dipped strawberries you made ahead of time.
7. Run a bubble bath and enjoy a relaxing hour taking time to get ready for your date. This will build the anticipation and intimacy of the evening. Or set it up for your spouse and let them take their time getting ready.
8. Make a list of 12 reasons why you love your spouse. Read the list over dinner.
9. Go through old pictures and remember the beginning of your relationship and why you still love your partner. Share with them all the reasons why they’re still number one in your book.
10. Make a breakfast date and get up before the kids and have your coffee and a sweet morning date watching the sunrise.
11. Read a favorite book out loud with all other electronics off and put away. Keep passion alive by focusing on each other.
12. Sit on your back deck or front porch and enjoy a fire pit and s’mores. Snuggle up together with a blanket and simply enjoy being together. Share your day, your dreams for the future and how you’d like to spend your next date night.
The best gift you can give your kids is two parents who love each other. Take time today and remember all the reasons you’re with your spouse and let the kids know your relationship is a top priority in your life. Make holidays special by being a loving reminder to your kids of what a good relationship looks like.
Look for K-Y® TOUCH® in the Family Planning section at Wal-Mart. Make sure you print the $2 off coupon first!
