Have you ever run a 5k like the Color Vibe with your family?
As a family I dream of my children to be off the couch and healthy. That’s not always what happens. We are busy working parents and sometimes (just keeping it real) it’s easier to let them do their homework and then get on a device while I finish working. Is it right? Nope, but it’s a reality for a lot of parents in this day and age. We pledged as a family to do the Color Vibe 5k in Nashville next month. We are doing it as a family and building health and family time.
Tum-EYummies wants kids to get fit and healthy too! That’s why they’ve decided to sponsor the Color Vibe 5k!
That has set up some really good habits for us as a family so far. We are walking on average 6 miles over the weekend (3 and 3 on Sat and Sun). Then during the week we walk at least a mile or more 2-3 nights per week. This has boosted our family time together and it’s been fun. The first time we did it we heard nothing but complaints. The second time we heard one complaint… “how do you walk this far without a break?” I said, “once you start and get going you don’t need the break”. I’m so excited to do this 5k with all my kids. My oldest son runs and the rest of us walk. But after talking with him this morning he says he’ll walk with us during the Color Vibe. I bet he runs once he sees all the other runners/walkers. I’ve been walking on average a 5k 2-3 days a week with my friends. But doing it with my family is even better. I think it’s bringing us closer together and allowing us fitness with our babies. We want them to grow up fit and happy ad this will help us meet our goals.
Here I am on our walking trail in our city. We love to walk to the local park and get fit without ever starting a car. Thank you Tum-EYummies and the Color Vibe for letting us get our fitness on with you! Won’t you pledge to do a 5k with your family? Which run would you do? Let me know if you’re joining me at the Color Vibe in a comment!
If you’re in Nashville I’m giving away 2 color vibe run tickets. If you’d like to win just leave me a comment telling me that you’re from the Nashville Area and want to win the Color vibe tickets and I’ll draw a winner of two tickets on 9/10 before the big event on 9/13!
Then head over and enter to win tickets to the Highland Games on 9/12. It looks like a lot of fun!

What a great idea. I think it makes it more fun to exercise together and it’s great to get the kids involved too.

Ugh, I can’t wait until it cools down again so I can go walk outside! I actually prefer to hike on our desert mountain trails. My kids like to go with me when they can. Some people hike now but there is nothing fun in my book about hiking when it’s 108 outside. 🙂
Dina
Ugh I couldn’t walk in that either. I’m in Nashville and it’s normally at least 100* except this month it’s been mostly 80’s and lovely.

This is an awesome idea, I can not remember the last time I run a 5K and its a great idea to take the kids with you

What a great idea to do this all together as a family. I can see how getting out there together is really bringing you all closer together.

Such a great idea! I hate going for walks when it’s so hot outside but I often feel super awesome afterwards. My family would love it too.

Great to be doing this as a family. It’s so much more fun to do it together though I agree that I it’s too hot to do in the summer.

I’ve never run a 5k, but I’m working on it twice a week at the gym with my friend, however I have done a 7 mile mountain climb…so maybe I could do it, but right now its hard for me to run 1 milke…so I’m thinking I definitely need more training.

Oooh I love this, love, love! It makes it so much more fun when you can do it with the family (your cute dog included!) 😀 Congrats to you and your family for doing this.

Great way to stay fit and healthy. Fun and exciting to do with the whole family!

We walk a lot. There are some of the Color Run events in our city but I’ve never gone. Maybe it would be fun.

My husband and I have wanted to do a color run for awhile! We’ll be missing the one closest to us this year as we’ll be on vacation – maybe next year!

What a great idea. We’ve done some color fun runs together as a family. I would really like to do a few more 5ks.

We did the color run as a family a few years ago and it was so much fun! My parents were the oldest in our group and my 2 year old was the youngest. It was fun to hand out with my younger sisters and play with my kids in all the color!

We used to have walking trails by our house and I Loved them. One of the few things I miss about our old location. 🙂

I think it’s so important to teach children healthy habits. I’m currently working on a complete overall in our family to be healthier. This is great inspiration. Thanks!

I wish our city had more places like these to just walk and enjoy nature.
And best of all get fit!
I love when families exercise together.

This is a great way to get the entire family started on a walking routine together! Even when everything is busy…surely we can find an hour three times a week to just get out and be in nature and walk. My daughters have done a 5K (ages 10 & 12), but I didn’t participate. I am pumped up now and would love to do this with everyone! I’m in Nashville.

That is great!! So much fun when your whole family participates.

I need to get moving! Having others to walk with makes it so much more motivating! Thanks for sharing 🙂

I did my first 5k run 2 years ago and I would love to do one with my family! I wish I was in Nashville to try to win those tickets sounds like fun1

I would love to win these tickets. I’ve been telling my husband we need to start being more active, as a family and this would be the perfect way to get started! Thanks for the opportunity!!! : ) Oh, and we live in Nashville.
