The Dovekeepers

CBS ANNOUNCES “THE DOVEKEEPERS,” A FOUR-HOUR LIMITED EVENT SERIES FROM EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS ROMA DOWNEY AND MARK BURNETT, WILL BE BROADCAST TUESDAY, MARCH 31 AND WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1, 2015.

In my opinion, this is must watch tv. It kept me intrigued and interested through out the entire film. My 9 year old daughter watched it with me and didn’t leave like she usually does. It has mild violence, can be a bit bloody at times and it has a racy kissing scene here and there. But this was a film about women in Masada,Isreal in 70 C.E. It takes place during a brutal time in history when the Romans were determined to wipeout a group of Jews who have taken refuge on a mountain and tried to wait them out or hide. The Romans worked out a way to get to the Jews. This and more you will find out when you watch this moving epic drama. Check out the trailer below.

THE DOVEKEEPERS, a four-hour limited event series from executive producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, will be broadcast Tuesday, March 31 and Wednesday, April 1, 2015 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Kathryn Prescott stars as Aziza, one of the title dovekeeper roles. The series is based on Alice Hoffman’s bestselling, critically acclaimed historical novel about a group of extraordinary women whose lives intersect in a fight for survival at the siege of Masada. This movie does something others haven’t done. It shows the times from a woman’s perspective. It’s really amazing what women are capable of and what we do during those trying times. These four womens lives intersect in a way that no one expects. Sweet, moving and real is a good way to describe this two day event. You will find yourself transported to a place and a time we only dream of understanding. So make sure on Tuesday 3/31 and Wednesday 4/1 you are watching or dvr’ing this movie. From Roma Downey and Mark Burnett so you know it’s good. It’s based on Alice Hoffman’s best selling historical novel. I have the book too! I will be reading that this weekend as well. I love historical fiction and this one will prove to be worth reading. Watch it and let me know what you thought. Leave me a comment! I loved being transported to another place and time, do you?

This is a great film we should watch with the family. With violent scenes, it will be advisable for parents to explain to the kids that these acts should not be copied.

I hadn’t heard about this, but it sounds interesting. It is rare to see movies with a woman’s perspective about that era.
