Feast oscar award nominated short film review

Feast is up for an Oscar for best animated short!

Feast is this great digital short at the beginning of Big Hero 6. It was sweet, touching and yes, even a tad sad. It’s showing the life of a man through what the man eats or feeds his dog during specific times of his life. The director, Patrick Osborne, told us that he pitched 3 ideas. Three ideas that were good solid family ideas. The one that was chosen was this one showing meals over time. Patrick was able to take this idea from a tiny nugget of an idea all the way to completion. He joined Walt Disney with the hit animated movie Bolt. Before that he worked on Chronicles of Narnia and Open Season. He began his career while still a kid making movies with his brother. Then he went on to get his degree in computer animated. He’s married to his beautiful wife Allison. He’s been a dashchund owner most of his life but is currently without a four legged friend.

Patrick Osborne included some little things to look for in this short film. You can see in the bedroom is a Nordictrac that is holding clothes. That is to acknowledge the one that was in his house growing up. There’s a paper airplane that he did for his child. The wedding dress is styled after his wife’s wedding dress. I love how we find out that there’s part of Patrick in the film. Look for it and you’ll see it.

So what’s Feast about?

While the main character was single he eats different then when he’s married. Then there’s a breakup that shows how he eats as well. It’s showing how the man’s doing emotionally through the dog’s food bowl. It also highlights how his puppy grows over time. It’s predicted to win the Oscar for best animated short! So you must see it! Wondering where you can see it? It’s at the front of the Big Hero 6 dvd! So check it out when you buy or rent it.
