homemade lotion and soap gifts.

I’ve been on this path to becoming more self sufficient. I love that just a little research will bring you all kinds of new recipes and ideas. The latest one I made for myself about 3 weeks ago and have been using it daily ever since. I made my own lotion. It was so simple. You can do it too. Check out my recipe in pictures below.

Not a fan of Crisco?

You may think Crisco is yuck. Do a little research. There’s lots of great beauty recipes out there using it. Did you know that they give this stuff in unmarked jars to plastic surgery patients. The reason this is what they give out is because it’s so gentle to your skin. I suffer from rosacea which is a common skin condition. In 3 weeks my rosacea has dissappeared. I’m not saying yours will because I have no idea what it will do on each person. I’m just sharing my experience. I went from having it prominently on one cheek to not having it at all. I should warn you it is oily. I put it on when I get up and just let it soak in. I put it on my hands and face. I also put it on my legs and arms. It’s so good for your skin. It’s also so inexpensive to make.

The coconut oil was probably $14 for 12 oz and the crisco was $3 for that big tub. I predict I can make a years worth of lotion from these ingredients, maybe even 2 years worth. That’s some fairly inexpensive face cream. I was using Philosophy’s Hope in a Jar and it worked for keeping my skin moisturized but never got rid of my Rosacea and it was $30 for about 5 weeks of lotion. This got rid of my rosacea for maybe $3 for a 2 month supply and I get to use it on more then my face! Happy gift making! I hope you try this and enjoy it as much as I do.
