10 tips to organize your bedroom

10 tips to organize your bedroom

Your bedroom should be a special place to begin and end your days. It should be comfortable and uncluttered. When your bedroom isn’t organized, your peaceful space can turn into chaos, and how can you relax when you’re surrounded by chaos? Use some of my tips to organize your bedroom and bring the zen back into your comfort zone.

  1. Keep electronics out of the bedroom. Some people like to watch TV in bed, but leave cell phones and tablets in another room for the night.
  2. Clean out your closet seasonally, use under bed storage boxes to store out of season clothing.
  3. I love shoes and if it wasn’t for having a shoe rack, they would be scattered all over my bedroom. The shoe rack keeps them neat and it’s easy to find a specific pair.
  4. Clear off dressers and nightstands, clutter creates stress and your bedroom should be a stress free zone.
  5. Use small bowls or decorative boxes to store small items that would otherwise be tossed onto the dresser or in a drawer.
  6. If you have a lot of jewelry, get a pretty jewelry box to protect and keep them from getting misplaced.
  7. Keep a laundry bag or hamper in the bedroom so that dirty clothes can be immediately out of the way and ready for laundry day.
  8. Utilize wall space by hanging a small shelf to display photos or knick knacks.
  9. If you share your bedroom with baby, have a baby station set up right by the crib to keep diapers, wipes, lotion, etc. neatly at reach.
  10. An over the door organizer with hooks is perfect for belts, scarves and other accessories.

How do you organize your bedroom?

By following some of these 10 tips to organize your bedroom you can easily and inexpensively turn your bedroom into a calming space that relaxes you. After all, we have enough going on in our lives that we all need the tranquil oasis of an organized bedroom. Sweet dreams!

Thanks for the great tips, my room needs some organization. We moved in March and I still have boxes in my room that need to be unpacked.

Great tips. We have a TV in our room, but I don’t allow our smartphones in there. I also am a big believer in a seasonal purge of my closets and dressers. It keeps things manageable and neat!

Our bedroom has become the catch-all room. Between the storage totes and the animals stuff it really needs to have a cleaning out and some organization to find its zen again.

Uh oh. Sometimes I just push things aside and make a few piles as a way to organize. That is just a band-aid on the problem. Thanks for this list!

I always clean out my drawers and closets seasonally. It’s so nice to have a closet or drawer only full of what I can wear each season!

These are some great tips! I really need to get better about not bringing my cell phone to the bedroom. I need to get me an alarm clock, since that’s the main reason I bring my cell phone to bed.

I am terrible about clutter. If there is a surface available – I will find something to clutter it with. This has been a big goal of mine to tackle this year. Great tips!

I could really use these tips. We just moved into a new house and my room seems to keep getting overlooked. I have a huge walk in closet off of my bedroom and it is just a mess.

I definitely need to organize my bedroom. My husband begged for years to have a TV in our room and I fought it hard but eventually gave in. Funny thing is – we NEVER watch it!

Simply making my bed and keeping the clutter off of the dresser makes my room look so much more organized. I love that! I do need to get some shelves for some of the photos and gifts from my kids, however, and get them off of the dressers.
