halloween activities for kids

Halloween is a fun holiday for kids and adults, but other than Halloween parties and trick or treating what fun activities do you do with your kids?

Here are 10 Halloween activities for kids that you can share with your little monsters!

Carve a pumpkin and then roast the pumpkin seeds.

Using construction paper, cut out large pumpkin and ghost shapes. You can then cut out shapes for the eyes, noses and mouths or let your kids draw the faces.

Get white balloons filled with helium and use black marker to make spooky ghost faces.

Trace your kid’s hand and foot and turn them upside down. Let your kid’s decorate their hand and foot ghosts/monsters.

Get styrofoam balls in different sizes from the craft store and paint them black. Glue 2 of them together. The smaller ball is the head and the larger ball is the body of your scary spider. Add piper cleaners for legs and googly eyes.

Use a white paper plate and have your kids color them orange and use black crayons to make a jack-o-lantern face. Cut out the eyes for them, and glue to a craft stick for a fun Halloween masquerade masks.

Bake and decorate Halloween cookies or cupcakes with your kids.

Have a Halloween Scavenger Hunt. Hide an assortment of candy, small toys, and any Halloween themed items your kids will like around your house even the backyard. Give kids a list of the items they are looking for and a trick or treat bag. Have them search for their Halloween treats.

Glue marshmallows onto construction paper or cardboard to make ghosts. Make eyes with black marker.

Draw a large candy corn on construction paper with black marker or crayon. Give your kids a bag of candy corn and some glue. Have them fill in the candy corn outline by gluing candy corns inside of it till there is no construction paper showing.

Have fun and do some of these 10 Halloween activities for kids with your kiddos. They are so easy to do, frugal and lots of fun for you and your little ones. Happy Halloween! Do you have a favorite activity that you do with your kids during October? Share it with me in a comment!

It’s been a few years since we’ve carved pumpkins, but I hope to do it this year. Jake is “too old” but maybe he’ll help me anyway.

My niece and nephew are too old for some of these, but they still love carving pumpkins. I’m no Picasso, but we still have fun.

Halloween crafts (or any craft) are a great way to keep kids entertained and focused…and not fighting with each other. Thanks for the list.

I don’t have little ones so thankfully the onus on keeping kids entertained does not fall on me, I have nieces and nephews so their parents worry about that stuff. When it’s Auntie time I take them out! With the activity depending on the day and the mood everyone is in, mini golf is always a hit and so are movies!
