homemade dishwasher detergent 1

Hardwater stains and homemade laundry detergent

So sometimes laziness pays off. I was putting off going to the store to get groceries. Until I ran out of dishwashing powder. Then I was like, “uh oh I gotta go now. ” Nope. I just made my own. If you’ve ever made your own homemade laundry detergent you have almost everything you need to make your own dishwashing detergent. If you’ve made this before and had the cloudy build up on your glasses I know how to get it off! I have very hard water and what I’ve been using has worked consistently for over 3 years now.  There was a time when I donated all my glassware because I couldn’t get the hard water build up off. Never again. I can fix that for you too. If you’ve had the white build up on your dishes in the past then try Lemi Shine Original (12 oz). IT’s a great product that I use every other time I wash dishes in my dishwasher. This is not a paid product endorsement. I’m just sharing with you what is working for me. Getting hardwater stains off your dishes can be done. Try it and see how great it works.

Here’s my recipe for homemade laundry detergent.

make your own dishwasher detergent ingredients 1

These are the simple ingredients in my homemade dishwashing detergent. It has 3 ingredients. Borax, washing soda and lemonade kool aid (you can also use Now Foods Citric Acid, 1 -Pound). The lemishine, citric acid and lemonade all have the citric acid base in it. I happened to have lemonade on hand so that’s what I used this time. You can also omit the lemonade and just put lemishine in your dishwasher (this gets the recommend, use the lemishine it’s a proven worker). I promise once you see how easy and inexpensive it is to make you’ll make your own dishwashing detergent too.

Ingredients
  1. I used equal parts of borax and washing soda. For this recipe I did 2 cups borax and 2 cups washing soda. I then used 4 packets lemonade. Mixed together and washed my dishes right away.
Instructions
  1. Put in container with a lid. Use a fork to separate any clumps in either the washing soda or the borax and mix it all together. I use a 1/4 cup scoop in my container and put that in both of my dishwashing detergent boxes. This is not a HE dishwashing detergent. Use and make more when you run out.
