3 things you can do to change your outlook on life

3 things you can do right now to change your outlook on life

Having a positive outlook on life can change many of the things that are holding you back from the things you want to achieve. Sometimes, making more money, having a stronger relationship, and even being a better parent can all start with how you view life. If you find yourself down in the dumps a good bit, you may also see that your job and your family has been suffering from your lack of interest or happiness. Try these tips to change that right now!

Reaffirm your own worth

Too often, we depend on people to tell us we are worth it. Don’t wait for someone else to tell you- tell yourself! Every Sunday night, write down the things you want to achieve that week, then make a to-do list for every day to get those things accomplished. At the top of the lists, tell yourself WHY you will get these things done. Remind yourself “You are a hard worker, so today you will accomplish all of these work tasks because you have the drive to do it.” Write reaffirming messages to yourself like this every day to keep you motivated and to remind yourself why you are doing these things.

Take time for yourself

In the rat race of life, it can be hard to do something for ourselves, but doing something that gets you back in touch with yourself may be just what you need to change your outlook on life. When you get too bogged down in the day to day, you can lose focus on the joys that life has to offer. Remind yourself by taking a painting class, or reading a book, or simply soaking in the bathtub surrounded by candles as you listen to music and unwind. You will be amazed at how much different all those worries and problems look after you have taken a break.

Dress the part

People say you should dress for the job you want, not the one you have. The same can be said for life. Dress the part and make your life what you want it to be. For example, if you love the beach, wear something nautical that reminds you of the beach, or decorate your home in a nautical theme. If you have a love for designer clothing, but can’t afford it- fake it! Make your wardrobe look pricey and upscale until you can actually get there. This will bring you closer to something that gives you happiness simply by looking at it, and when you become happier your outlook and life will change for the better. This also restates your goals by giving you visuals that you can actually touch and interact with, not just pictures you place on your refrigerator or desktop.
