10 Halloween Party Themes for Children

10 Halloween Party Themes for Kids

I have always loved Halloween parties. The atmosphere, the costumes, the treats and yes, even the tricks are so much fun and I love scary costumes! I also love theme parties. It’s so cool to have a specific theme for a party. So I thought it would be even more fun to have a theme Halloween party.

I put together this list of 10 Halloween party themes for kids just for my readers.

  1. DIY Costume Party- it doesn’t matter what you decide to be, as long as the costume is homemade.
  2. Jack-O-Lantern Party- have a pumpkin carving station and a small pumpkin for each child to make their own jack-o-lantern to take home.
  3. Monster Mash – ask guests to come dressed as any type of monster they like.
  4. Royalty Party- each kid comes dressed as a King, Queen, Prince or Princess.
  5. Superhero Party- ask guests to come dressed as their favorite superhero.
  6. Movie Character Party- everyone comes in costume as a character from their favorite movie.
  7. Decade Party- pick a decade; the 60’s and the 80’s are fun for costumes or have everyone come in a costume from their favorite decade.
  8. Potluck Party- ask parents to help their kids make a Halloween themed dish and bring it to the party.
  9. Cupcake Decorating Party- set up a table with frosting and toppings and let each child decorate their own Halloween cupcake.
  10. Haunted Backyard Party- decorate your backyard to look as creepy and scary as you can and have family members dressed as zombies or ghosts wandering around scaring guests.

Halloween theme parties are a fun idea and kid’s really enjoy them. Pick one of these 10 Halloween party themes for kids or get creative and come up with your own unique theme. Come back and let me know what theme you chose and tell me all about your kid’s theme Halloween party.

I think a monster mash would be tons of fun. I have seen lots of “gross” recipes for Halloween on Pinterest lately and they would all work together for the food at a party like that!

I like the idea of the Monster Mash party best. My older sister would go for the superhero party, while my younger sister would fit right in with the Royalty. My brothers would join the cupcake party right away. Good ideas, all.

Those are great ideas. I’ve always wanted a Halloween birthday in our family, but it hasn’t happened and probably won’t happen. We do like to have Halloween parties though.

I like the idea of making a costume party DYI. It forces people to use the creative side of their brain. I don’t think I’ve ever purchased a pre-made costume.

We don’t do Halloween really but I have a friend who has a Halloween birthday party, so we usually go to her party. 🙂 That means I don’t have to come up with activities with my kids but just tag along with hers. 🙂
