Homemade Sidewalk Chalk and Sidewalk Paint Recipe

We had so much fun making sidewalk chalk and sidewalk chalk paint. My kids played with the chalk and chalk paint for hours. We used it as chalk paint first. When they got bored then we let it dry for about 2 days and then used it as chalk. Their friends came over and had fun playing with it too. It would be fun to mix up when the neighbor kids are over. It would give them something to do and keep them entertained. All kids love to create things in the kitchen. The recipe is so simple and easy too. Are you ready to see how really simple this is? Ready for the recipe?

Ingredients
  1. 1.5 cups corn starch
  2. 1.5 cups water
  3. food coloring 3-5 drops for each color
Instructions
  1. Add corn starch and water and stir. When smooth add colors and stir. Use immediately as sidewalk chalk paint then let dry for about 2 days (could be more depending on how thick you made it). Then use. I placed mine in mini muffin tins. If I did it again I would make sure to line the muffin tins either with mini cupcake liners or plastic wrap so that they come out easy. Before it dries it's the chalk paint. Then let it dry and it's chalk.

Do you think you will make Sidewalk chalk or sidewalk chalk paint?

My kids had so much fun making these and then painting with it. They loved drawing with paintbrushes on the sidewalk and driveway. It was cheap fun and by letting them help make it they enjoyed it that much more. It’s so fun to let them see that what you buy can be made. My kids love crafts and this was a fun one for them to do together. Check it out and do it yourself. You will love this and it will fast become your go to recipe for summer fun. One last picture of them painting together! What’s your favorite craft to do with kids in the summer? Leave me a comment and let me know. I may just need to make your recipe!
