Homemade Pizza Recipe
My family gets excited when we order pizza at Papa Murphys. But they get just as excited when I make it at home. It’s amazing to me that they love this pizza as much as take out! Because we are eating out of our pantry this week and running low on flour I did a half white and half wheat flour dough. It turned out lovely. The kids were happy and as always there’s no leftovers! Check out my homemade pizza crust recipe.
- 1 c. warm water
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 pkg. yeast (or 1 tsp)
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 4 c. sifted flour (I did 2 cups white and 2 cups whole wheat)
- 1 small can tomato sauce
- mozzerella cheese
- pepperoni (turkey)
- vegetables ( we do onion, peppers, and sometimes olives)
- Put into large mixing bowl water, olive oil, yeast and salt. Let yeast soften in oil. Stir occasionally. Work in flour then knead on well floured board until smooth. Put a tbs oil into the bowl and place crust in their to rise. Flip it so oil gets on all sides of crust. Let rise until double. I let it rise about 3.5 hours. If you need to make it quicker you'd probably need to up the recipe to account for not having time for it to rise. Spread on 2 pizza pans. Spread on basic pizza sauce. Choose topping and bake 20-25 minutes in hot 400* oven. We add tons of veggies and some cheese on top. Our pizza sauce is simply a small can of tomato sauce and we add 1/4 tsp italian seasoning. Yum!
- this makes enough pizza for one large cookie sheet and I am able to make a small cheese only pizza for my girl.
IF you’re looking for a yummy pizza crust recipe you’ve found it.
My entire family loves this pizza. I do tend to use lots of olive oil on my dough as I work it into the pans. That helps to prevent the dough from sticking to you. But this spreads easy and makes a lot so come hungry! Make sure you try and make pizza at home. It’s simple and easy to make and your family will thank you for it! You can control the toppings and fat and calories too. Are there other recipes you’d like to see on the blog? Leave me a comment and I’ll test them out and put one up! Thanks for reading!
