3 staycations the whole family can enjoy
One problem with family vacations is that it is hard to please everyone. It’s even harder when your vacation is a staycation thanks to limited funds. But if you want the entire crew to have fun while on a staycation this year, you can make it happen and here’s how.
Go camping
No, you don’t have to load up the gang and head to the great outdoors- you can just step out into your backyard. Invite the neighbors or friends and pitch a few tents, start a contained fire, and make some S’mores. Tell ghost stories, play games, roast hot dogs, and have a great time camping with those you love. No electronics allowed, but you can comfortably use the indoor facilities.
Try Geocaching
Have you heard of this? The Geocaching website says that “Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.” Get in on the fun by visiting the Geocaching site and taking along the whole family. Nothing in your area? The site will show you how you can create this fun adventure for others around you that may want to participate. I actually wrote a step by step to geocaching success article. Check it out it’s lots of fun.
Take a Virtual Museum or Art Gallery Tour
Several museums and art galleries all over the country and the world offer “virtual” tours. Places like the Smithsonian Natural History Museum, the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, the Boston Children’s Museum, the Louvre in Paris, the Sistine Chapel, the Vatican and many more have put tours online. This is a very cool and educational way to “transport” you and your family to places you may not be able to visit in person- all while sitting in your own home.
