Is Visa Prepaid right for you?

I have a son who has just begun working at his first job. He is wondering if he should open a checking account or savings account. We’ve been discussing it and were not really sure which direction we should go. We looked at the Visa debit card. It has quite a few advantages. Such as:

  • Free to order, activate and load

  • Free app and check deposits from your smartphone

  • Free direct deposit

  • Free card-to-card transfers, any time, anywhere, in seconds

  • No overdraft fees — never goes negative!

  • Safer than cash – 24/7 support, Visa fraud protection and 100% FDIC insurance on funds

  • No debt, financially responsible, no interest/credit/APRs

  • No credit check and approval in seconds

  • 22,000 in-network ATMs

  • Thousands of cool, unique card designs to choose from, including brands like: Garfield, Popeye, Betty Paige, James Dean, Care ears, Walking Dead, Star Trek, Autism Awareness, Breast Cancer Research, Shark Week, Where’s Waldo, Doodle Jump, etc. ere’s the one I choose. I love the Paris theme!

Now remember this isn’t a gift card. You don’t want to load it and give it to someone else because it’s registered to you and only you.  It is free the first 30 days and then it’s $5.95 a month unless you load $800/mo on to it each month. I love the fact that my teen can’t go into the negative. That is one thing that really makes me happy. Teaching our teens how to use credit wisely is one thing I want to instill in him. By him not being able to go negative I am working towards that goal.

I went ahead and signed up for a visa debit card to see how it worked. We went out of town on vacation and I was able to use it at an Aquarium gift shop for the kids to get a small surprise. It worked flawlessly and I had some happy kids. This makes me content with this card. I would love it if you marketed one to teens with a much smaller amount that has to be kept on the card per month. He doesn’t make $800 a month yet. Maybe load $50 a week for teens just starting out. It would be so helpful for our little family. Thanks for letting us experience how easy your card was to load and use. We had a great time!
