These are so great for summer with the kids out and home all day! I was at my friends house and saw what she did to her ball jars and lids. It’s a great way to reuse those jars and lids that sometimes don’t get reused as canning supplies. I don’t know about you but I’m always looking for lids and straws for cups so that my kids or myself is not spilling drinks all over the house! This is the perfect answer to that and so simple. Here’s the instructions.
Take your lids and rims and drill a hole in the middle of them. Thanks to my hubby for helping me out!
Then flip them over and drill the other side for evenness.
Then spray paint the lids and rims whatever color you like. I did what I had on hand which was brown and hammered metal. I liked the hammered metal the best. Gives it a really old look.
I used a box so that the fumes wouldn’t coat the ledges of my deck. 🙂
Allow to dry. I let them dry in the heat of the day for about an hour. Then I came in and put them straight into the dishwasher. You must wash them before use! You do not want metal shavings in the drinks you are drinking! And I think they turned out cute and my little testers loved their new summer cups!
And now just the cups.
This would be cute at baby showers or birthday parties. The ideas are endless. If you try it let me know what you think. We think it’s a great way to upcycle those jars and lids!
This is a super cute summertime craft for the kids. We do a lot of canning and always have the jars and lids around. We will have to try this!
Great idea! I love mason jars..I see more and more people using them. I love the straw idea!
